I was called a thief!

I was explaining the target/pampers deal to my mommy group. They all felt the deal was wrong and that the coupon people didn't intend for me to use their coupons that way. Then they said 'as far as I can see what you are doing is stealing and you are a thief in my opinion'. I was shocked.

Have you ever been approached about your couponing lifestyle as if it was negative? Usually people are excited to hear the deal I come across on here.

I haven't been called a thief, but a lot of people think I'm weird because I use so many coupons.

I think they are the weird ones!

Maybe they are just jealous because they're not getting a good deal. I work in retail and I personally think it's great when somebody gets a really good deal on something.

Since I don't have babies or buy diapers, I don't know what the current deal is with coupons. Tell me the deal and then I'll tell you what I think. Although I seriously doubt that you're a thief.

As MrsP stated on HCW, "When you pay my grocery bills, you will be entitled to an opinion."
That is such a great quote!!

As far as your friends go, brush it off your shoulder and realize that some people don't know that coupons can make thing super cheap or free. I mean, some people just don't get it! You will be laughing about that very moment when you are giving your child the pullup (well, feel and learn or easy ups since they are pampers but hey kleenex are tissues too!!) to change thier own pants!!

If target puts out the coupon, it's only fair to grace the store with your presence to use the coupon, right?

Is this the deal? If it is, that's an awesome deal!

Feel & Learns 5 @ 8.50 = $42.50
Kandoo 100 ct 5 @ 3.74 = $18.70
Total $61.20 -$15.00 Homemade simple coupons
= $46.20 -$18.70 Kandoo WYB Coupons
= $27.50 -$15.00 --> (5) Target $3.00 off diapers and wipes coupons
= $12.50 -$10.00 --> (5) Pampers $2.00 coupons
Total $2.50 plus tax of course. For 5 Jumbo packs and 5 Kandoo 100 ct wipes.

My Grandmother used to tell my Mother that useing coupons was stealing.
Hurt my Mom'sr's feelings terrible., but it didn't stop her from using coupons.
Mother was never a "coupon queen" and rarely had multiples.
At least My Mom is glad I understand coupons and I do use multiples and do a deal for all it's worth!

My neighbors know I use coupons.. so do they.
However I do keep my mouth shut about my biggest "escapades"

Thanks to Taters for explaining this awesome deal. All you're doing is stacking coupons. If Target didn't mean for this to happen, the register would be programmed differently.

You go girl!!

Well it is the last time I share a deal with them. Since it happened I have really spaced myself from the group and may even join a different Mommy group because of the episode. It is their loss. Other Moms seemed to get the deal and wanted to do it themselves.

I think some of it is jealousy too. They don't understand how to get the deal themselves so they put others down who can figure it out.

The woman that said it also thinks selling coupons is wrong even though I explain to her they are not paying for the coupon but my time to put everything together. I guess she'll miss the free Similac coupons I was giving her.

Thats a great deal I assume it is still good? I would love to either share it with my neighbor or do it myself to donate to the local food pantry they never have diapers for the clients when they need them.

You are not a thief just a very savvy shopper who knows the value of a dollar in this day and age.

Just ignore them. They were probably jealous or didn't really understand the deal.

I used 8 of the free bic Soliel at Walgreen's yesterday and the cashier remarked that I must be getting them for our local battered women's shelter. Umm, no, I was getting them for my family. I don't know why she even commented. We'll use these and I'm proud to have gotten such a deal!

There were probably some quiet ones there who didn't speak up and really would have liked to take part in the deal. I remember being in a group like that where one or two people seemed to speak for all of us and I was not thinking like they made me think that I was thinking. LOL. I spaced myself from them.

Yep, I've been called a thief and a cheat and probably worse and I have been called those things on this board (although it was a long time ago). People would tell me I was using coupons in ways they weren't intended so it was cheating. They are allowed to have an opinion but it did hurt my feelings, especially when I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I learned to simply not share deals with my mommy group or anywhere I might get name called. Heck, someone on my mommy group told me I was abusing my 2 year old when I had to take her in to get a cavity filled. Some people should keep their mouths shut (or stay off the keyboard!)

Call me stupid, but is it wrong to save money? My kids are 8 and 11, so no use for the diapers, but I let the other new moms know about the deal and they were thrilled. Being military and me not working right now, we are on a fixed income, so any money that I can save helps the whole family out. Now let me ask you this. I bet if you approaced you "mommy group" with a coupon for 5 dollars off gas, they wouldn't think you were stealing. I have many friends that have used coupons and the money they saved they put into their "vacation" bank fund and went to many exotic places every year. That's just my opinion and if you can use multiple coupons then go for it.

One time a cashier at Wegman's (in State College) told my mom, who was using coupons, that she preferred to "pay for her groceries." Like my mom was walking out with them under her dress or something.

OP, I don't think you are stealing at all. I haven't done the deal myself, would love to if we had a target closer than 30 miles away.

I know how you feel. I stopped posting my GDAs here too and I have lots of them, because I got tired of certain members, always having to comment on whether the deal was, "right", "wrong", "immoral", "stealing", "cheating" etc , ad nauseum

Often, I wasn't even doing the deal, just passing along a good deal to whoever wanted to participate.
It was up to that person to do it or not, and nobody else's business to comment , period.
The MC TOT board is ONLY for posting good deals and discussing the details of those deals.
It is not the "MC Is it Right board" and the posters should never have been allowed to post comments arguing their opinions of right and wrong to begin with.
I finally got fed up with those posts being allowed and the endless discussions over morality.

WOW! I would have just bowed at your feet and called you "COUPON QUEEN" not a thief. I have 1 still in diapers and I totally missed this deal (kicking myself royally for missing this one).Hey, look at it this way...hopefully with them not participating (as I'm sure they were to busy on their high horses) there were more diaper deals left for you.

Sorry they were big meanies and I hope you have found a better Mommy group that appreciates saving a dime or two...heck in this case dollars.

Just cross those big meanies off your list and move on to bigger and better things!
