that doesn't quite sound right to me. When we were in Denmark last year, gas ended up being around $9 per gallon USD. Of course the public transportation there was so cheap and efficient, that we would have not used a car too much.

| Alexander's Gas & Oil Connections - Poland cuts gas tax in response to high world oil prices I think the decimal point was put in the wrong place. Still expensive but not as high as you quoted. Of course take in to account that most cars in Europe get a lot higher gas milage. We were in England last year where gas is very high also. but because the car (which fit 4 comfortably) got 42 miles to the gallon, the cost per mile was not much difference than the 19 miles to the gallon I get here. Also things are a lot closer, so you don't end up driving as many miles as you do here. I drive 15 miles each way to take my kids to school, in Europe that is a day out!!! I grew up England and when I was just there things that I thought were miles away, like a trip to my Grandmothers, was only 30 miles. We used to plan that trip ahead of time, I do that every morning and then again in the afternoon! |

Honeymoon was in Ireland/England. We drove a Nissan Sunny, with no antenna, but a hanger in the back... I tried to put gas in, went to the cheapest filler... The gas pump was circular, the tanke was square.. couldnt get the gas in.. squirting everywhere.. Guy came over, and said 'What are you doing? That's unleaded gas. You have a leaded car.' 12+ yrs ago, it was around $4.00/gallon, with xchange rate. Jason |

she didn't have any decimal points her email says "benzene 450 zl litre" gasoline 450 zloty per liter. that's pretty scary to think about though. I will have to email her and ask her to clarify it a bit more. (LOL grrr)

thats why my friends who lives in england say they use the public transportation all the time. cost them like 5.00 to go to work and back a week. wish we have that kind of transportation here. but wouldnt work for me with my job. but still would be nice to catch the bus to town and back and not have to drive, hunt a place to park and pay a arm for the gas to get there.

so roughly $6.15 a gallon x 10 gallons on a tank (conservative) = $61.50 a tank x 4 = $250 (roughly) for vacation. The cost of the car however was all in Euros... which 1 Euro converts to $1.33 American, and the cost of the car that we could "fit" in was 623 Euro for 17 days (36.6 Euros a day) = $845. Who knows what the costs will be 2 years from now though...but obviously you can't wait until right before you leave to start planning it all out. Even at $6.14 for a gallon of gasoline...it's a little short of double what Michiganders are paying for gasoline ($3.66 gallon)

We lived in Italy in 2005-2006 and gas was about $5.00/gallon US. I used to laugh when I would read the posts on various boards about the prices here in the states, about $2.50-$2.80 at that time. We bought a Hybrid when we found out we were getting transferred there.
