What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?

Just curious as to what everyone's doing!

We usually go camping for the weekend but on occasion we have stayed home and done the Lucyfest thing. This year dh and I (and the dog ) are camping, the girls are going to spend the whole weekend with Nana and Papa. YEAH! We'll be spending a day at Presque Isle too, can't wait! Next month is dh and my 10 year anniversary and all of June is booked up with camping and other activities (dh and I were planning on sneaking off for a weekend around our anniversary) so we decided Memorial Day wknd would do. We will have to be back early Monday tho since my oldest is in the parade with her girl scout troop. After the parade I'm sure we'll get together with my parents for a bbq.

So what are your plans?

Camping, too! It's all 4 of us. We reserved the spot next to DHs brother and his family. It's at Perry Lake about 1 1/2 hours away in Topeka, KS. We are on a penninsula of the lake, so we'll be close to the water! I can't wait! I love camping.

You'll like it there, pretty place- big too! I lived in Topeka for 44 years and know Perry well! It really is only about 20 mins. outside of Topeka in case you need to run into town. Take a weather radio programed for Jefferson County.
Have fun!

Yeah, we love it! We've been there several times.

As for the weather radio, we were in Topeka 2 weekends ago for the Governor's Cup Soccer Tourney and had "lovely" weather all around us!!! They cancelled Sunday due to weather conditions.

The worst weather we ever encountered camping was once at Melvern (near Emporia). I kept getting up all night and flipping on the TV because there were tornado warnings everywhere! We made it through with no problems and had exciting stories to tell!

My DS has a ball game each day over the three day weekend, so that kind of ties us down. DD also has to play in the band at the local aMemorial Day Ceremony. The pool will be open by then and hopefully the weather will cooperate so that we can have friends over and bbq.

I haven't been camping in over 20 years! We don't do much. We hang out at home and our neighborhood pool opens that weekend so we'll probably go there. We are going on a charity motorcycle ride on Sunday so that will be fun

Hello Fellow Campers!

but we zig when everybody else zags. or at least we hope we do... We don't camp on the major holidays because the campgrounds get so full.
We like it when the park is quiet and virtually empty!---we just got back Tues evening from our "Mother's Day weekend" camping trip.. FABULOUS Weather and Awesome fishing!---

But back to the Memorial Day weekend... Weather permitting we will be in the back yard in the pool the whole weekend. Only need to get out to grill dinner and make picnic lunches!
Love it, Love it Love it!--- I Love Summer the best!---

Sunday - Going to a picnic at a good friend's house. they have a pool so hopefully the weather will be good and the kids can swim. Parade on Monday - dd is a brownie and her troop will march in it. Tuesday - kids have off so maybe I'll make them clean their rooms and help me get ready for my yard sale.

Memorial Day weekend is graduation weekend here in our area so we have 3 parties to go to that weekend. We aren't campers so that's not an option. Probably will just work around the house and outside in between going to the parties. It will just be nice to be off 3 days in a row from work.

We are having a huge garage sale. We live by a lot of campgrounds and there is a lot of city traffic coming this way going to the river or the Poconos on the weekend so we usually so pretty well.

Then we were invited to a picnic on SUnday, but we don't know if we are going or not. It's a good friend and if it were just them and a few of our mutual friends, we would go in a minute, but they are inviting a bunch of their old high school friends and I don't really want to go for a high school reunion, kwim? They were the popluar people and I wasn't, and even though we are good friends now, they are inviting a lot of people I haven't seen in almost 20 years.

My oldest daughter and her huband are coming home from Florida for a few days, so I am very excited to see them! We will probably do a cookout, and just spend time with our family! I am just hoping we have nice weather. This has been such a cold, rainy spring. Living in Maine can be wonderful, but it feels like it takes forever for summer to get here!

we thought about camping, but these are things (apparently) you can't book at the last minute in any of Michigan's state parks or metro parks.

So! That said, with gasoline being close to the $4 mark, we are going to stay home.

We are going camping for a week during the week of 4th of July to Hoeffmaster (sp?) State Park on Lake Michigan (we got one of the last spots available).

It is so cold here (and rainy)...it's hard to think that summer is really very close.

I'm so bummed! The Park Ranger called and they're cancelling 2 of the entire campgrounds reservations (we've had for 8 months!). Somewhere north got 7 inches of rain and the campgrounds will be under water by Saturday. I know they have to do it, but how disappointing! I spent a ton of money today on groceries getting ready for our camping trip!

I told the girls we'd make it fun, anyway. We've got a ton of graham crackers, marshmallows & candy bars that need to be used up!! We're just gonna punt and have a great weekend anyway!!

Well, I know this is going to sound VERY exciting that everyone is going to be green with envy but I am going to stay home and do homework all weekend. And then on Monday, if I can stand more fun I am going to go to school for hours.

I cant believe that my college is not closed. <sigh> Hope that everyone has a good weekend.

OMGosh, I'll be going there next year! (well, not your friends cabin, LOL) I found out about a month ago that I have a HUGE extended family, a cousin of my dad's 'found' him in Florida (guess she lives near where my mom and dad live) and they have a family reunion every year. Next year it's at Cooks Forest. I've never been there but I've heard that it's a great place to go!

Well... it's Memorial Day TODAY. The grill is ready! and we are at home.

We always have a huge family reunion during the week after Memorial Day when NO ONE is out and about.

We spend Memorial Day weekend getting ready for it and DH takes the entire week off (it usually falls just the week after our boys get out of school so it is nice to all be together at home or otherwise!).

As far as the reunion, we take over 5 cabins in the mountains and have a great time. I'm in charge of tie dye -- oh joy!

I can't wait!!!

Today is my son's 13th birthday so we had a small party for him - just the immediate family and 4 foster children (girls) that are in the care of the woman who babysat my kids when they were little. My son asked for meatballs and stuffed shells, so even though it was odd, that's what we had....oh yeah, and grilled chicken, potato salad, fruit salad, tossed salad, brownies, and ice cream cake. They all bounced on the trampoline and had a blast. These girls are so fortunate to have landed in this woman's foster care ... have overcome some atrocious situations and their future looks bright!
