Men with waxed eyebrows...

I must live under a rock.

I saw two men with nicely shaped plucked (or waxed?) brows today. Their eyebrows looked better then mine! One was at the car repair shop and one was a waiter at Applebees.

Why do men do their eyebrows? Does anyone know?

But, hubby does have to trim his or they would be ALL over the place.
((he does not shape them only trims like a moustache))

I told hubby that I was gonna get his eyebrows waxed. Some of the hairs are getting a little too long. Plus, he's starting to get a unibrow.

He didn't want to do it, so I told him I'd pluck them! LOL

All of the men that I have met that have perfectly manicured waxed eye brows usually dress in drag in the evening. --- Not that there is anything wrong with that!!!

DH doesn't wax his, but when he gets his hair cut, the stylist trims his eyebrows too. They are really bushy and look much nicer after she's done with them (but still natural for a male)!

EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw them.

My DH also gets his brows trimmed but we are talking a well-manicured brow on these fellows. Yes, their brows looked better then mine. I also hope that this is not a new trend. I tend to like the bushy brows on men -- especially my man!

The term for this kind of guy is metrosexual- a man of any sexual orientation with a strong aesthetic sense of style that pays attention to details of and spends money on beauty products, manicures, hairstyling, and clothing. I have to say that my BIL had the unibrow, and his wife must have sent him for an eyebrow styling. It is quite startling.

This is really pretty common. Although I live in the midwest, when I go in for an eyebrow wax I see guys there more often than not. It's a cheap service and can make a huge difference in the way a person's face looks.

Many guys get manicures and pedicures not because they want shiney strong nails, but because they want good looking cuticles. I'd prefer that every guy that wears sandals have regular pedicures so we don't have to see rough, dead, discolored foot skin (actually, this goes for women too)!

Getting these salon services does not in any way indicate that a man is gay, or even metrosexual. Eyebrow waxing, manis and pedis have become fairly popular among high school and college aged guys who are not metrosexual (they don't wear the high end clothing, get $100 haircuts, etc.) but do care about their appearance. These are very affordable services that more and more people are treating themselves to, which I think is great!

It surely made these fellows more noticeable. If they hadn't had this done, I wouldn't have given either of them a second glance. It wasn't that I thought it was attractive either...

Great point. I trim my husband's eyebrows every few months or so. They can get really bushy. If left untamed he tends to look angry and mean. When they are trimmed it opens up his face and you see his nice eyes

MY brows, on the other hand, are naturally thin and sparse. It's not fair, lol!

We used to go away yearly to Tyler Place Family Resort, unique among family resorts since 1933

(not relevant, just a plug for them, as we don't go anymore)

Anyhow, while there, one of the couples we met, the guy was a doc (an ob/gyn) would mention he ALWAYS gets peds, manicures, and massages

He did it because he wanted his hands to look good/feel good, IYKWIM.

I don't see anything unusual with a man getting his eyebrows done. My son gets his done every month.

It's funny that you bring this up. I was actually just having this same conversation with my DH. I told him that I don't mind a little trim - most men need that. But, an actual eyebrow wax on a man, I just can't stand it. I've seen big, burly college kids (men) with waxed eyebrows and I think it just looks wierd.

I think that some men need a little trim...Bushy looks nasty...But when it's so precise and pretty, it's just too feminine for me...it turns me off...Some men look better than most women these days...The hair, the nails, the brows...sad, but true... ~Lisa

That's the word I was looking for >>> feminine

I can understand taking care of yourself and trimming up the strays ... even plucking a few in the unibrow area but these brows were thin and feminine looking.

It looked weird to me.

OK...so here's something...My EX husband anyways shortly before he left, I was looking at him and was like "SOMETHING is different" He did his eyebrows!! THAT and the fact he started getting dressed up and smelling good for a factory job should have been the signs he had a girlfriend at work!! (these were all new things for him) I dont know it seemed odd on him sort of feminine I guess.....

My Brother is metro......girls and guys want him!! He has been married for five years now and has 2 cutie pie children. He and my 4 year old nephew shave and cologne every morning and then they groom. I mean hair gel, waxing stuff, concealer for those unsightly blemishes, lotioning, tweezing I could go on but I don't think my post is allowed to be that long!! Anyway he gets facials, massage, mani-pedi's, the works. Guess what he is a guys guy to he works out played semi-prof. Basketball and football. He doesn't come off girly, just very well put together male. Think Male Model, my bro's are very nice looking. Its is funny though b/c our little brother is a hunter/fisherman....sort of rugged guy.
I think that if thats what you like marry a metro......I didn't my DH wont even come in to the salon when I get my eyelashes dyed!! I go with my bro!!
