Need a quick gift for a neighbors birthday!

We were invited to a surprise party for our neighbor tonight and I don't know what to get. I don't want to spend a lot and we really don't know them very well (I'm not even sure of her name to tell the truth), but her husband was nice enough to invite us to the picnic and we can't show up empty handed.

I was thinking about getting a plant, hydrangea or something like that? I know she is into gardening and wanted to be a little more original, but I don't have much to spend either? $25?

Help!

If she's into gardening she may also be a birder. How about a nice hummingbird feeder? I'm also in Jersey and the little critters are going wild at my feeders.

You could also give her a $25.00 GC to a nearby garden center. I'd be careful with an actual plant, if you have deer in the area, it may get munched.

We might even have some wine to bring, even cheaper!

If I can't find anything good, I think I'll go to the garden place in town and get a GC, quick and easy. I'll check for the wine first though since I don't have to buy that!

she might not drink.

hit Target... gather the pieces to fill a "garden bucket" or "garden watering can"...

items you can include--little shovel, little rake, a couple different kinds of flower seeds, a knee pad, gardening gloves (most of these can be found in the dollar spot) and include a gift card for $15 or $20 from Target.

If I don't know them well and don't have much time, I wouldn't go to the trouble of gathering up all of that stuff to make a gardening basket, although I love the idea if I knew them better...I'd be careful with the wine idea because they might not drink...I like the idea of bringing them a gift card to a gardening center... ~Lisa
