Red face Fashion !?@#

Is it just me?? What's up with the spring/summer fashions? I just can't wear these clingy knits and bold prints....the tie-back tops and fitted bust (that cut my boobs in half).....paper thin fabrics and long.. Is everyone else loving these styles??? What's a middle-aged woman to do?? I was old enough to remember polyester the first time!

It is not just you... Sadly I have succumbed to $5 teeshirts from Walmart (Hanes Her Way and Basic Editions). If it's going to fit me, the tag has to say at least 1 size larger than what I actually wear because I am large-chested and tall -- that is hard on the psyche!

I had a terrible day trying on swimsuits at Ross the other day. Main difficulty for me is the saggage of the boobage. The tags on the suits with the molded cups are wrong. Maybe that is why they are at Ross in the first place?!

No, it's not just you!

If I could get the jelly doughnut around my belly button to disappear, those shirts would look great on me. Maybe the sun will melt it away.

You have to wear some push-ups if you are large breasted for the fitted bust. I wear a 44dd and these tops look really great on me so it could be all about the underthings you have on. I do not like the super long tee-shirts either they do not fit me well at all. I have found that recently like in the last two weeks Old Navy has come out with some fitted tee-shirts that are "regular length" they are very thin and clingy but if they look good on me I'm sure they will look good on anyone. I'm am a extremely hard to fit person and I'm picky!! So double whammy. Also, If you get one of the spagetti strap tank tops from old navy (cheap) and a nice button down shirt (left unbuttoned) it looks really nice, and its cool for your skin. Also, age appropriate. Happy Shopping!!

Good luck finding jeans at all right now, Mine self-destructed, and Target apparently only carries Levi's in the winter. Sears has only the extreme ends of the size range, and The Gap was both expensive and shredded. I know what size and style I wear, but that's no help if they don't have them. I finally found some Zena ones at Dillard's, though I hardly ever go in there. Not doing too well this season.

It's really difficult to find clothes for my 40+ body...They either look too young or too old for me...so skimpy and short that my 13 year old daughter wouldn't wear them...or so matronly and ugly that my 68 year old mod mother wouldn't wear them...I have found some nice things that I like at Kohls and JC Penneys... ~Lisa

I am big on top too so a lot of the fitted bustline shirts don't fit me because the *lines* of the shirt are int eh middle of my boobs That said, I have found some that DO fit and they look FAB because the ties make me look thinner and I don't have to tuck so I am more comfy. Most shirts I find are too long or too short. I'll have to check out Old Navy. I was there a few months ago and nada...nothing looked good.

I'm top heavy too. It seems all the tops I think are cute make me look pregnant! Not flattering on me at all.

Another issue is the sizing . Like you can wear a size 12 in one brand and a 14/16 in another. It does not seem consistant. So I guess you have to find a brand that fits you best and stick with it. I think it's less hassle. I've decided not to do anymore online clothes shopping because I can't hold the item up to see and feel the actual size and fit.

I don't usually have a hard time finding bottoms.

But to answer the OP, I'm not a huge fan of many of the styles today either. I also will not wear clingy knits. I prefer cotton, it's much less forgiving .

Empire waist definitely seems to be the in style for tops. I am very large in the top (32D) and small in the waist so they tend to make me look pregnant mostly if they fit the top. I have found a few that are very cute though if they are a more fitted tailored style, made out of non stretch fabric, and usually tie in the back. I found a cute one at Lerner NY&CO yesterday for like $15 actually that really does look cute on me.

This is my problem with the empire waisted tops and being a DD cup... I fall halfway into the waistline and so am looking at getting a better push-em-up bra!!!

I hate shopping. When I find something I like and it fits, I buy a few of them. I buy several pairs of jeans at the same time. I have the same top in 3 or 4 different colors. They don't really look the same if you were different shoes and different jewelry with them. If anyone notices, I don't care.
