Has anyone taken any online courses?

I know things have changed a lot since I was in school and there are a lot of good online college courses available. Has anyone gotten a degree or taken any classes online?

I have no idea what I would even study, but since my kids will both be in school next year the thought crossed my mind. If I could afford it and found something worth wild to study?

I never thought I could go back and here I am plugging away. Just don't be dumb like me a take a full load right off the bat!

Local community colleges or local universities should have information on their websites. If not a quick call on Monday to one of them should determine if the college in your area supports on-line classes.

My sister actually got her Masters degree all online, but I don't really want to ask her. ( I would rather do it without her or my mom finding out) Hers was all paid for my Putnam, who she worked for at the time and she never had to go anywhere, the college was in Mighigan or something and she lives in Maine.

I just don't want some fly by night, not real college, kwim?

I love taking classes online iot is much easier with 3 kids and you can do it at your leasure, But you have to be very self motavated in order to take classes online because there is no real interaction except through email with the teacher or other students. so good luck if you decide to go for it. it os well worth it.

my sister (and member here) got her bachelor's degree and her master's degree online through Univ. of Phoenix.

It is expensive!! However, I think she got in through some sort of education proggie that the Coasties have set up for dependents. (her dh is in the coast guard).

I took one class online, Sociology, when I was in nursing school. It was through my local community college. I have to say it was the easiest, least stressful class I had. I got to do it at night, when the kids were asleep, and I actually learned a lot!

I took a couple of classes online! I loved it! I could do the work when convenient, as well as save gas$$$.

I am now also looking to finish up my degree this way Before I had my son I was taking classes on campus AND online and much preferred to do it online . . . You do have to be self-motivated, though! I am such a computer nerd that I love to sit and do anything online - even homework I just hate dragging myself on campus to take classes . . .

Go with a community or state college and then you will know that everything is on the up and up. Our state college has classes for the boys and girls in Iraq and Afganistan. My dd took one last summer. She had trouble with it, so she had to retake it but the school was 2 1/2 hours from our house and she had to work for the summer. A teacher told her to do it that way. It was calculus. I helped her with it and learned alot. By the way, she passed it.

I absolutely agree with those you stated you HAVE to be self-motivated....It was hard at first for me but, once you get into the flow of doing it just gets easier and easier!!
