What stupid thing do you get confused about?

I confuse Labor Day and Memorial Day!! I can never remember which one is in May and which one is in September! I know I always look it up and I still can't remember.

I also confused right and left until I was like 25 okay 14 but still pretty embarassing!! My dad finally showed me that you can make an Uppercase L with your hand and that one is the Left!! I am not kidding thats how I remembered it. I still will find myself getting flustered and my fingers will extend so I remember the LEFT one!! SAD, but true.

Alright Ladies join me in the embarrassment, LET IT ALL OUT!

I can't remember how to do long division unless prompted. And I'm bad with directions. Does that make you feel any better?

I can NOT remember my husbands cell phone number! He has had it for 2 years and I call him a few times a day, but sometimes if I think too hard I can't remember it!

I had to look on the caller id yesterday because I had no clue, I knew what numbers were in it, but not the order.

I thought maybe something was wrong with me, sort of scary really.

I can't ever remember my dad's birthday. I know it's August either the 12th or 13th but I couldn't tell you which one.

BTW, I can't keep Memorial Day and Labor Day separate either.

This sounds strange even to me but it's true. I can always tell North,South, East and West even in strange towns but I always have to look at my hands when someone says left or right. Good grief, I'm 50 years old for pity's sake.

I am directionally challenged( I put it in politically correct terms.) Spin me around in a building and I am lost. I did not think much about it because my dh took me everywhere. I got my driver's license when I was 26 after the birth of my first child. When I was 35 we moved to the DC area. After a couple of days my dh went to work. He told me to go get some groceries. He had to draw a map for me because I had no idea how to get there and back to our new house. Luckily, my ds who was in 4th grade knew directions instantly and he was with me.

Names... I call my kids by the dog's name all the time.

My nurse friend told me that 'noun' words are the first thing to go during hormonal fluctuations.

It is not that I forget their names, it is that the wrong word comes out. Frustrating to me and to them.

I use to confuse Memorial Day and Labor Day too.
I finally figured Labor Day is when the teachers go back to work (LABOR)!
Now the "M" for May for Memorial Day really helps! Thanks!!!

I used to get these confused too. I would hate to give directions, or to have to tell my kids they needed a right or left shoe, etc. My oldest daughter's kinder teacher taught her that if you hold up your hand with your thumb to the side, your left hand will look like a L. I do this all the time, sometimes I have people looking at me like I'm crazy, but whatever because it works for me.

Lol, I have problems with maps sometimes. It's usually only the ones that I print out on the computer though, like the google maps. Don't ask me why, but I just do. Hubby and I were going to OH one time and we printed out a google map for the area we were driving to and I could not figure out which way we were going. I actually have to hold the paper in the same direction we are going. Needless to say, I made him read the darn thing the rest of the way.

I thought that left and right goes with dyslexic people but it is more then that. I believe that people who have trouble with directions have trouble with left and right and north, south, east, and west.

I live in Ohio and I get lost everytime I use a google map to go a mere city away in Ohio.Especially when the signs are never where they should be or pointing in the wrong direction.Half the time there are no signs at all.

Another directionally challenged here. I can't tell the back roads or new ways on anything. I know one way to work, to DD's school, etc. My DH on the other hand, can pick it up easily...I drive him insane!

Thank you for making me feel better, lol. It is nice I'm not the only one that can't read those silly maps.

I keep telling myself one of these days I am going to remember to buy a little compass somewhere and stick it in my car. I hate it when people try to give me directions by using north, south, etc. I always feel like the biggest idiot trying to figure out which way is which.

I forget faces. I often forget even people that I have had conversations with. It's very embarrassing to have them say "Hi" and me not recognize them. I often forget how old I am too, I honestly have to think for a few seconds before answering; people always think I'm lying about my age because of my hesitation.

I have always had a hard time with numbers (dates etc)

Have a hard time remembering to spell certain words as well... I taught myself how to read when I was a baby and have heard that is why I am awful at spelling.

I also always forget which months have 30 and 31. I always have to bust out the knuckle trick (you hold out your hand in a fist and start counting with your left pinky knuckle. Knuckles are 31 months, not knuckles are 30 months- except Feb of course).

Mine is with my kids names too. I know what I want to say but one of the other names always comes out of my mouth.

I do know my left from my right but my DH and kids don't so we are always say, "No, your other left" or right!

You do have to have a sense of humor!

I am exactly the same ! I would get lost in my home town without landmarks.....lol
DH can drive through somewhere he went years before and know exactly where to go, or he can figure out back roads no problem, etc. A detour would make me freak out!

We have lived here almost 2 years and I have never driven to his work, wouldn't know how! I hate highways. He has tried to tell me, " just take 64 to blah, blah, blah....." and I am like where is 64!???
( right up the road it turns out.....lol)

I have written directions in my car to get to Dr. offices, etc ....sad, sad, sad! if it isn't within a few miles /on the main few roads I travel I just can't go

Saying N/S/E/W to me might as well be in Swahili!

I told my 15 year old son that I would post this for him...He gets confused when it comes to tying a tie...He had to do it again tonight and couldn't do it...Although we've shown him how to do it now for the tenth time...He just can't seem to grasp how to do it...So DH will tie it on himself, then slip it off of his neck, and give it to my son to put on himself...if you know what i mean...The last time DH was out of town, I had to literally grab a man in the parking lot of the orchestra banquet going in and ask him if he'd tie DS tie for him...Whew! ~Lisa

Directions! I don't know north, south, east or west. I grew up on a 90 acre farm and one road took you wherever you wanted to go. DH has a great sense of direction. I go by landmarks. Sometimes we'll split the driving when going home on vacation and he'll say "Read the sign". I do and everyone I think about he says "No, not that one". GRRRR I would need a paper with EXACT words on it for the rigt exit. Stange thing is I now deliver pizza! Go figure! LOL

I know what you mean about the name thing. Whenever I am around my brother, I always mix up his name with my husbands (they are very close sounding). I know what I mean to say but it just comes out of my mouth wrong. It is really embarrassing.

I've always thought that I was the only one who does this! When I give people directions I try to do my L nonchalantly but it doesn't really work well and they look at me like "yeah and I'm going to take directions from you, you need to look at your hand to tell me left or right" But I am good with directions. My husband doesn't like to believe me though, he wont ever listen when I tell him which way to go and when we have to turn around and go back the way I originally said he acts like I told him to go the wrong way.

OMG, this is me too!!! Dh laughs at me cause every time we turn, I turn the map! I'm also directionally challenged (I like this term mead52! ), even if I print out step by step directions, it's no use. Unless the directions would say "take a left after the blue house with yellow shutters" and so on.

Just this past Saturday I had to take my oldest to a girl scout camp that I had never been to, thank God I bought dh a GPS system for Christmas.....that was SOOOOOO much easier! I named her Linda and bless her heart, she told me exactly where to turn and I didn't get lost once!

I forget people's names as soon as we're introduced and then I avoid them like the plague until I can figure out their name.

I also wonder things like...why does forty not have a u when the root is four?
