We only eat out a few times a year. Being on an island in Alaska, we have very few places to choose from. Even at that, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! What it would cost the 3 of us to eat at one of the higher end (touristy) type places, I could feed my family of 3 for the whole week.

When we do go out, it's usually at the local sushi or Chinese place and we go there for lunch (gotta love those lunch time prices/specials). That way we can still feel like we are treating ourselves but it isn't costing the budget an arm and a leg for one meal.

We usually only eat out a couple of times a month and then it's normally just fast food. Occasionally we have a nicer meal out but that's usually only once every few months.

I hate to admit this but with running and softball and tae kwon do we have fallen into the 2-3 times a week catagory!! This time of year we usually do fall into it just because we are so darn busy. What I like about summer as a SAHM it gives you a chance to reorganize and regroup and recover from all the things that kept you running for so long!!

I just wanted to clarify that when I say eat out I mean full fledged restaurants!! We usually end up there after one of the practices!! Thank God the season is over for us anyway!!

we don't do fast food at all but always do use coupons and/or free kids offers. We eat out as a family 2 times a week (usually weekends) and I eat lunch out once a week usually

Since DH and I are retired, we eat out often.

There is a small restaurant close by that charges $1.15 for 2 eggs, toast, AND coffee so it's well worth the money.

Including tip, we can have breakfast for $3 (including tip) for both of us

There's also another restaurant where we can get a cheeseburger and fries for the two of us for a total bill of $6.56.

We eat out at least twice a week sometimes three times. We eat out on the weekend Saturday and either Friday or Sunday. One of the times will be fast food and the other is a nice restaurant.

We occassionally eat out a third night but only if I'm not feeling well or if I'm P.O.ed about something and refuse to cook.

My dh works on a pager and he is close to home a lot, so I put 4-6 times a week because we meet for lunch when we can. Then we do about 1-2 nights a week with the kids for dinner.

We usually eat out once a week when the DH and I have off together (Usually Sunday). Nothing fancy unless it's our anniversary or our b-days. The other day we have off together I actually cook so the DH won't starve!

We started going out with the kids last summer when we didn't have AC and I was NOT cooking in a 95 degree house. The kids are finally old enough to sit still and be quiet enough for a restaurant and now we are hooked and go too often. We go to a couple of local family places and I LOVE TGI Fridays! Nothing fancy, I'm not that daring with the kids yet.

We have two local places where DH and I can both eat at for less than $8 combined so we do breakfast or lunch once a week *without* kids. It is our weekly date and we so look forward to the time together when we can talk without being interrupted. Oldest son babysits...

We also go out on Friday evenings for a family dinner with our boys. We take turns choosing. I budget $40 a week for this and we can go to some pretty nice places and the boys are learning about budgeting how much they spend on their restaurant meals (ie appetizer menus, drink water, etc).

I picked 2-3 times a week.

I think we're in the 4-6 category (though it's about half lunches and half dinners out) which I'm trying to cut back on. Both our schedules are so busy that it's just so much easier. We do try to choose healthier restaurants and choices and eat at fast food maybe once a year max but I know what I cook at home is still a lot healthier so we're trying to cut back.

We eat out way too much. When I want to save money in the budget, that is the first place we cut. I am a really good cook too, but just lazy at times, I guess.

We used to go about once a week, but our schedules are now opposite, so it doesn't happen much at all. We typically go to a divey looking but really good Mexican place. Dinner for two, with strawberry margaritas, is about $20. It's less with no drinks, of course.

we eat out once, maybe twice a year, I worked in the resturant business for many years, I know what goes on, I prefer eating at home. This way I can controll the salt, fat and calories. Drive thru maybe twice a year, but only when it can't be avoided.

Where do you guys go that's family friendly (2 kids ages 5 & 8) that is still relatively cheap? We have a lot of national chains, but fast food gets old. Do any restaurants offer deals where kids eat free? DH and I are dying to try something different since we go out once a week to eat & run errands , but we must stay within our budget.

Wowsers, I'm really surprised at how many of us eat out often. So many stay at home moms too. I know I'm guilty of it (but do I feel guilty? hmmm). With all the kid's activities, eating at home is sometimes difficult.

I've been taking dgd out to eat about 1 or 2 times a week for the last 4 years I've had her. Sometimes fast food and sometimes nice local mom and pop restaurants. But with the gas prices going out of sight I think eating out is going to be a thing of the past. My eating out funds will be going in the gas tank. And the car will be sitting in the garage MUCH more that in the past.

What a bummer.

We used to eat out twice a week but then we both got new cars so now we only eat out once or twice a month. It's mostly so I get a break with the cooking and doing dishes. It's not so much the food because as you guys know from reading my posts on food I am very picky and have lots of food issues.
When we find a place we like we tend to stick with it. I would love to eat out two or three times a week just for the going out trying something different and spreading some $$$ around the community.

Usually once a week as a family. We love this place called The Loop Pizza, which has 99 cent pizza for kids on Tuesdays. Alot of places here have free kid's meals, too.

Once a month, Scott and I have date night, and we eat out then.

We eat out at least once a week. Is eating out, in a restaurant or take out? We just have too much going on and the kids have lots of practices. We eat out more in the fall/winter. We eat dinner later in the spring/summer, especially when school is not in session.

Ugh. I eat out WAY WAY WAY too much! I have at least 3-4 business lunches or dinners a week. Not to mention the weekends why my boyfriend wants to go out for something...
