I was so scared today-- regarding bathrooms and little boys...

I took Brandon to soccer practice tonight, and on the way home we stopped at Burger King, and Brandon needed to go to the bathroom. I've been struggling lately with "Is he too old to go into the girl's bathroom with me?" thing. Since there didn't seem to be many people inside BK, I let him go in the men's room, and I stood outside.

He was in there a few minutes, when I heard this noise which I thought sounded like a scream followed by crying. I KNEW it was Brandon, and I turned and threw the door open, my heart pounding a mile a minute. And there stands Brandon, singing and dancing in front of the mirror in the bathroom. I almost died!!

That's it for me, I don't care if I get dirty looks, he's going into the bathroom with me til he's 20.

But anyways it sounds like my house the kids will be screaming & I think they are dying & you go see whats going on & they are just laughing or whatever.

When I told my mother the story, I did laugh, but I tell you-- in the moment, I think my heart stopped.

Poor thing, you must have been scared to death! I'm so glad it was nothing.

FWIW, with my 3 boys, I have always stood at the bathroom door, keeping it partially open with my foot, when one of the boys was inside. Don't care who doesn't like it, don't care who gives me looks. There I am.

Of course, my oldest "boys" are now 20 and 16, and pretty gigantic, so if one of them is with me, they take my 12 year old in and I feel okay about it. Otherwise, I'm the nutty lady at the men's room door.

Me too!!! I always stood right by that door ready to charge in!!!
Funny story-when my almost 23 yr old was 4 or 5 he used to sing some very high pitched parts of the songs from Jesus Christ Superstar. He'd be in there singing his heart out. I knew what he was singing but as other men came out they had the most puzzled looks on their faces. It used to crack me up!!

Just for the record, how old is Brandon? I'm guessing 14. That means he only has 6 more years to go until he can use the men's room. LOL

Honestly, you can't be too careful these days. Better safe, than sorry.

No, he's 6. And I personally think he is a 'young' 6.

It is funny now, but I am sure it wasn't then!

One of those moments that when you see they are all right , after frightening you.
You want to smack them .
I have been there!

My brother and his soon-to-be-wife took my 2 older DDs to the circus one year (Dh and I were at home after just having DD #3) he and my oldest DD went to get snacks and she had to go to the bathroom RIGHT THEN!! He didn't know what to do b/c he knew I would Kill him in his sleep if he let my child walk into a public bathroom by herself. So he picked her up, put his hand over her eyes and ran her into the bathroom and put her in the only man stall there was. Luckily she knew how to do everything in there by herself. Then he put his hand over her eyes again while she washed her hands and ran out of the MAN bathroom with her!! My now SIL took the littlest to the bathroom after that!
