Talking How I turned 500 dollars into my dream getaway! Now..Where to go shopping ?

Ok, really quick

I took 500 dollars and researched what to sell on eBay...
Took me 3 months and made it into almost 5k

Then, there was a really great deal on base for govt campers (i found one unused)
for 5k and am selling this weekend for 11k.

I am so excited, I could PMP's!!!

Yes, times this year have been tough for me, but I always wanted to go to N. Cali and the Redwoods.

So, I live in FLA and plan on driving a complete circle, once I get to the U.P. of Michigan I will stay in my family cabin(inherited) and then shoot back down.

What I want to know is...

Where are all the great places to SHOP!!!!!!!?????????

for example, I remember back in the 80's in Cali you HAD to go to the, "SWAP MEETS".
Last Summer, I went to NY and had to shop on CANAL st.

Thanks so much !! ( I want to leave in about 2-3 weeks)

Thank you!!

It's actually a spiritual adventure for me.... Does that make sense?

I did the East Coast last summer....after I sold my house.

My BF has to point out to me that I am living with family at the moment (since, I am 38) I explained to her that, this is my chance to do the things I have always wanted to do, I was never able to have children, so why wait for retirement??

I love nature...just not a nature girl. Does that make sense?

Yep, it sure does. I was born and raised in the city but moved to the country about 15 years ago, it does take some getting used to. I know that the benefits will far outweigh your fears and you'll be just fine.

Don't forget that you have the sparkle and the fire.

I say that Target all over the country are great places to shop !!! And outlet malls are great too.

But more importantly, CONGRATULATIONS on your hard work paying off!

I'd hit thrift stores... especially in wealthy areas of the country. Call and find out what time they open and be there.

Have a fun and safe trip. You have worked hard for it.

Outlet malls are fun but if you don't know your prices then they can be a ripoff. Thrift stores in the Los Angeles area are great. Designer threads cheap. There's a book out there about the best restrooms is america, I would get that book. It would be 'fun' to compare.

OMG!

That's soo funny! My husband and I last year could tell you where the best restrooms were in the UP of Michigan. Our cabin has a bathroom outside(upgraded outhouse) I screamed when a baby mouse ran by my feet...so, I loved to go into town (25 miles one way) and rated the bathrooms...
GOODWILL was number one in my book!

You are inspirational! No one is asking you in general how you did this, but it is so great! Inspire us with words of wisdom, please!

By the way, have a great time.

Congradulations, that is such a great story!
If you will be traveling thru north central Texas you will have to visit the Canton Flea Market. It is touted as the worlds largest flea market. You know what they say about Texas LOL! If you go plan at least 3 days to see it all!
As far as clean restrooms My DW and I have found the cleanest one are at the major truck stops, as well as the cheapest gas. We bought a book about a year ago when we went to Wash. St. called Truckers News, Truck Stop Directory that was very helpful. HTH and good luck on your adventure J.D.

I am from lower SW Michigan and LOVE the UP!
If you didn't go any farther, you'd have a great time!
I also love northern CA.
Don't have any special shopping places to tell you about but I know there are lots of little town all over the USA that are just FULL of cute little shops.
Blowing Rock, NC
Metamora and Nashville, Indiana
St. Joseph, Michigan
Amana, Iowa
LaGrange, KY
I know there are a couple near Placerville, CA, but can't remember the names.
In one of them, you will find PIG TURD ALLEY !!!!!
I know you will have a great trip!
Be safe and have a ball!!!!!
Take TONS of pictures and when you think you have taken way too many, take some more, because you CANNOT take enough pictures IMHO!!!
