What are you reading?

I just finished Accidental Happiness by Jean Reynolds Page. It was pretty slow, but I finally got through it. While I drove down to Florida last month, I listened to a book on CD called Baby Proof by Emily

I made a trip to the used book store last week to get something for our drive to NH next month, and picked up one audio book, and one book to read. The audio books are: The Second Assistant: A Tale from the Bottom of the Hollywood Ladder by Mimi Hare and Clare Naylor.; and the book I got to read was The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Rolling by Neta Jackson. This is the 6th book in the series, and I can't wait. (This is Christian fiction).

So, what are you reading?

I just finished Diary of a Mad Bride by Laura Wolf.

I have been married for over 11 years, but I found the book hilarious! (I eloped)

Eldest...the 2nd part of the trilogy of Eragon. Yes, sad but true it is written more for kids but Eragon was so good that I made DH get me Eldest for Mother's Day. Seems I am always reading what might be considered middle school science fiction/fantasy books. One of these days I might pick up a real book for grown-ups but for now I have a box of stuff I got at the last Scholastic warehouse sale for summer reading....LOL

I'm reading "Inside My Heart" by Robin McGraw. It's about her life and she really gives some good advice to women. I highly recommend it.

I don't think it matters what you read, as long as you do read. Right now I have two books going. Sisters by Danielle Steele and the Penny Tree by Nal Accent

Same here, I started reading the Plum books after someone had recommended them. Unfortunately I started in the middle and read all the way to the end of them. I was curious what the first books are like and now I am reading the 3rd book in the series. One more to go and I'll be done with them.

Re-reading the Harry Potter series in preparation for the release of book 7, as well as reading The Land of Mango Sunsets by Dorothea Benton Frank and Swimming Lessons by Mary Alice Monroe.

I *LOVE* to read!

Just finished 161 research reports that range from 20 - 40 pages in length. I look forward to reading for pleasure in a week or two when school's out. I have 161, 2 page essay test to finish by Monday. Well, I knew what I was getting into with the job...not complaining, just stating a fact. Happy to be finished.

I am so jealous of those reading for pleasure. I am reading my Comprehensive Medical Assisting books and my Drug Therapy books. I feel like all I do is read and do work for these classes.

I have the new Dean Koontz book just sitting on my table calling my name but I am avoiding starting. I know that once I start I will not be able to do anything until I finish.

"Water for Elephants" was very good, and I would definitely recommend it. Didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. "Loss of Innocence" was pretty good, a true story about a family's fight after their teen daughter become involved with meth. Just picked up "The Dangerous Book for Boys" for my boys, and they love it!

Right now, High Profile by Robert B. Parker. Last week, Fresh Disasters by Stuart Woods. Before that, Pattersons new ones. Also working on Janet Evanovich's number series-can't believe I never read them before!! Any recommendations for some good murder mysteries for my summer? I'm afraid I've read all the great ones.

I just recently read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It's a memoir and what a story it tells! I highly recommend it. I'm about to start The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion

Right now I'm reading Body Surfing by Anita Shreve. I just finished "I've Heard That Song Before" by Mary Higgins Clark -- that one wasn't that good. Some other books that I have sitting here are: Around The Next Corner: The Double Bind: and If I Am Missing or Dead.

Did you all know that Janet Evanovitch has a new one out: Lean, Mean Thirteen. I haven't read it yet, but I've got a hold on it from the library

James Patterson has 2 new ones out: Step On A Crack (was good) and The 6th Target which I'm still on the waiting list for.

I read The Year of Magical Thinking. Wow. That woman went through a lot. The Glass Castle is on my list to read. Water For Elephants was different but good. I read "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Piccoult. Very good. I read the latest in the Shopoholic series "Shopoholic and Baby" and it was good. I thought "Sisters" and "Family Tree" were just Ok.

I'm also waiting for my turn at "One Thousand Suns" which is by the author of The Kite Runner. I loved the Kite Runner.

So many good books, and not enough time!!!

There is a TV series scheduled for this Fall based on that James patterson "Women's Murder Club" series. I haven't read them yet but I hope to before the show begins.

I'm currently working my way through Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series.

Wink

Donnaquilt,
We're reading a lot of the same books! "If I Am Missing Or Dead" was good. I really liked "The Year of Magical Thinking", but it was pretty sad. It's actually a Broadway Show now. I finished "The Glass Castle", which was very interesting, but odd. I've read the Shopaholic books, and love the laughs! "Family Tree" I really liked, but "Sisters" not so much! I'm not a huge Danielle Steel fan anyway.

I really liked "Nineteen Minutes", though I am finding I either really like or really dislike Piccoult's books. Doesn't seem to be much middle ground. AND I just started "One Thousand Suns"!

I had to post, since I was so struck by all the books we had in common! Happy Reading!

Momshops,

I agree about Danielle Steele. I liked My Sisters Keeper by Piccoult -- but I disliked The 10th Circle. I haven't read any others by her. Family Tree was likeable but it did seem a little contrived to me -- but since my adopted son is of a different race, I have a different life experience of that sort of story.

Let us know if One Thousand Splendid Suns is good. I checked today and I'll probably get it this week from the library reserve list. If you didn't read The Kite Runner, you really should. It was just a wonderful, well written book.

I finished Body Surfing by Anita Shreve. It was good but different. I had a couple of surprise type moments. I would recommend it but it won't be liked by everyone. It's kind of an Oprah type book.
Hugs,

Okay.. I'm outed. I love trashy romance novels.

Right now it's Deadly Kisses by (I have no idea)

My favorite authors in the romance genre are Nora Roberts and Judith McNaught.

I just finished "There is a (slight)Chance That I Might be Going to Hell" by Laurie Notaro. Very funny and easy read. She is one of my favorites, I especially like "The Idiot Girls Action-Adventure Club" which is a collection of sories based on things that have happened in her life. HILARIOUS!
