My first thought is diapers with twins they will need it & these are always appreciated I wonder if you are far away you could call around & find somewhere that would deliver them I think that would be neat.

What about a gift certificate to Target, Wal-Mart, or somewhere like that? They will constantly need diapers and wipes. Possibly formula, too. Clothes will be a little iffy for a while because they are so small, so I wouldn't bother there.

When I had my son he was premature & we wasn't prepared for it.. We had all the diapers and clothes for a newborn child not a preemie... the thing I could use the most was preemie outfits. We only had 2 sleepers & one outfit. they were so overprice back then!!

As a mother of twins, I would say go with diapers!! You can order right from Pampers website and have them sent to her. I'm sure she will appreciate anything you send though! Best wishes to her and those little ones!!

My vote would be for diapers or GC to places where she can buy diapers.

However, as a mom of a child born premature, I have to say that preemie sized clothing may be a blessing to her as well. Wal-Mart carries a nice selection of preemie sizes as does Gymboree. If you shop the clearance racks at Gymboree, you can get some amazing deals.

Have fun picking out baby gifts, no matter what you decide to go with!

Amazon.com also carries diapers and wipes, etc. eligible for free shipping with orders over $25.

How about a savings bond or coin? Saves on shipping.

I always buy books....at least one for every birthday. I tend to go for some of the classics..."Where the Wild Things Are"..."Where the Sidewalk Ends"....a sampling of Curious George. These are things that they will keep for years.

My parents have bought Bonds for our boys every year since they were born. And let me tell you, while it may not seem like it, it is an extremely thoughtful gift. Most bonds mature in 10 years--thus by the time they are 18 if they need to they can cash those bonds in and have a pretty significant sum.

Otherwise I would go with the staples: Diapers, wipes, etc. Either order online and have them delivered or send a GC to Target/KMart/WalMart.

My parents do this for my girls as well. They send each girl one for their birthday and one for Christmas every year.

I agree on getting preemie clothes, my oldest was a little over 5 lbs when she was born and we did not have any preemie clothes, and all the newborn stuff we had was too big for her.

The gift every mom has liked is a memory jar. (I got the idea here a few years ago.) You take a jar, any kind will do, decorate it add some paper and a pen, and one of these poems:

Baby books are great ideas,
but sometimes you're too busy.
Living with a little one
can put you in a tizzy.
Milestones pass too fast at times
to find the proper page.
So, jot a note of each event
with date or baby's age
(like "Took 3 steps on May the 1st"
or "Teething -- 5 December")
then drop it in this Memory Jar (Box)
to help you to remember!

As children grow, they learn to speak,
And have so much to say.
They crack us up and make us smile
Each and every day. All the things they do and say,
We think we will recall.
But as they age, so do we,
And we don't recall at all!
So HEAR it, WRITE it, DROP it in -
That's all you have to do,
To help remember the things they did,
And WHAT was said by WHO!

These are very easy to make (and ship), not at all expencive, and something a mom will cherish forever.

As a mom to twins (now grown), I can definitely say diapers! I think since you live so far away a Gift Certificate to a store would be a good bet. If you're going for a gift instead of a GC and you're wanting to buy outfits, buy something they'll grow into. We received so much clothing for when they were little, that we wished we had some for when they were like 1 or 2 !!
