14 WFIE, The Tri-State's News Leader: Newborn found in garbage bag in Chicago home

This just sickens me. Why do this, why not take the child to a safe stop. Why put it in a trash bag.

I think she should be put in a trash bag...

At least they found the baby in time. But what kind of damage did the tightly sealed trash bag do to the baby, will it be brain damaged?

This is becoming an epidemic it sure seems like in our country these days - do you think are they afraid they will be in trouble if they take their baby to a safe spot?? Can't say I ever understand what they are thinking when dumping these babies all over the place. We recently had one dumped inside a Jack in the Box Bathroom and then another one was dumped in the rain on a bench near a hospital!!!!

Stuff like this really really burns me up....She went to the hospital and leaves the baby in a trash bag...I just don't get it......There are so many families out there who would take the baby. I can never understand what makes people resort to this.

We had one left in a box in the public restrooms of a park soemthing like 100 feet from a fire house. I just don't understand how any human could do this to a baby.

I thought (by the title) for sure that this thread would be about the Texas Mom who hung herself and her four children... only the 8 month old baby survived!! (8, 5, and 2 died)...all of them girls!!

I couldn't believe that one either!

Is there no one around that would see that this mother is depressed/post part. and see that she needs help.

I would hope that I would see this if it was someone I knew was thinking of doing something like this.

But, NO body really knows do they!?!

ITs making me sick and the sad part is if the baby died because it happens around here all the time the parents get some dumb thing like 5yrs in prison. SO stupid you can drive a baby to any safe haven & so many people would love a new baby ya know why would anyone do this I have no idea.

I am truly saddened by kids "left behind" in garbage bags BUT before you condemn the CHILD who did it ---remember she is a CHILD! At 14 or 16 or any teenage years- their brains are not fully formed yet. It is the reasoning portion of the brain which is not developed. You expect a 14 year old to think like an adult? I am truly grateful for the kids left near a firehouse or in a Jack in the box bathroom -they are the ones who will be found fairly quickly and will live. It is the kids who are smothered and dumped who break my heart. Give the CHILD a little compassion. Just because a person can have sex and conceive does not give them any special thinking powers.

What a sad story

In the story I posted, It never says that she is a child. It says WOMAN, so I am to think she is at least an adult.

But, I do have to agree a little about kids having kids, but I still think they can at least take it to a safe haven.
