I love a good thunderstorm!

It's getting ready to storm here and I just love it. I can hear the thunder getting closer. When I was a kid I was really scared of storms. My dad would take me to the porch and we would watch the clouds together. He knew what kind the names were and made me feel safe. He explained the different kinds of lightning so by the age of 7 I would sit and watch the storms. Of course that was before radars and the internet so now I get to watch them coming. I've done the same with my kids and they really aren't afraid either. I didn't grow up in a tornado area so I'm sure my view is a bit scewed but I really enjoy a good thunderstorm!

I love thunderstorms too.

ellenboll, I love how your dad talked to you about the clouds and lightning. How reassuring and informative that must have been!

I love it when it is storming at night. I can sleep so good through a thunderstorm. Again, I undertand some people are scared of them but I love them too

Count me in on a good thunderstorm. I just wish my dog felt the same way, he goes cowering into a corner as soon as he hears the slightest little rumble. Poor little guy.

My mother was terrified of thunderstorms and many other things.
She had me really afraid of them too.
I was able to overcome that fear and now I enjoy them too.
I do get a bit nervous if it gets really windy tho.
And we need rain here too!

I grew up in and still live in tornado alley! I love thunderstorms and I love tornado season! I would never wish a tornado on anyone, but I love the excitement that comes when they are around. My kids are not afraid of storms, either.

I love thunderstorms! Unfortunately we rarely get them in Alaska. One of the reasons I can't wait to get back down south.

One advantage of my dog being 17 years old is he can't hear anymore! When my kids were babies he would whine and pace but he felt the need to protect them so he would do it in their rooms! Now he sleeps through them!

By the way, the storm went north...darn! Looks like I'll be hooking up the hose and watering the flowers today!

I LOVE them also! They have been predicting them for days here and so far......nothing If only I could get the kids to like them ~ they are 8 and 3. They come to my room at night and sleep next to my bed.

I used to live in Michigan and loved when it would thunderstorm. I truly miss the smell and sounds when its raining. However, I don't miss that infamous "siren" though....everytime there was a tornado warning/watch I would (as a kid) start grabbing as much of my valuables as I could and head for the basement.
Unfortunately, we don't get much rain here in the desert. It's all bark and no bite (for the most part) around here.

BOth my son and I love a good storm and yes we are in tornado alley. I do wish that my son had a little more fright when it comes to storms. He would make a great tornado chaser, no fear.

I envy you. We haven't had a good thunderstorm since last year. I love to sit in the rain in the dark and watch the show.

I am so tired of rain and storms right now, we have had waaay too much rain in the past couple of months. The ground is so saturated and standing water everywhere. The wheat farmers are saying if it doesn't stop raining soon the wheat is not going to dry enough to cut, then it will spoil and that will not be good for anyone.

I woke up to something wet falling from the sky and then I remembered what rain looked like!

It has been so long since we have had any rain. I bet my plants are thrilled. I wish that we could have had a good thunderstorm, I love them too, but I am just happy that we are getting any rain.

We're getting it right now, thankfully! It was so dry that the ground was cracking in areas.

Looks like maybe you are getting it now. Jon Laufman just said it's in the Mansfield area. I hope it is so you don't have to water!!
