Wink Wedding shower gift??????

I have to go to a wedding shower tomorrow at church, I am one of the hostesses and I did put in $10 with all the other womens group members to purchase the large gift. I was also going to give an individual gift, I have a 22oz. Yankee Candle to give her. Do you think that is enough? I don't know her, she is the daughter of another church member and I have only seen her ocasionally at church at the holidays, she doesn't live here in our town. I am kind of feeling that it isn't enough, but the fact that I don't really know her makes me think it is enough. I am going back and forth, the shower is tomorrow at 2:00. I am also providing cheese and crackers for the guests. Is it enough?

You don't know her, yet you've pitched in $10 toward a large gift, you're providing the cheese and crackers, and you're going to give her a large yankee candle also? I think that's more than generous. The large yankee candles aren't cheap, plus all the other money you've contributed. If someone I didn't really know did all that for me, I'd be thrilled. It's more than I got from some of my relatives when I had my shower.

I think that's plenty. Honestly, I think I'd keep the Yankee candle for another occasion.

I think that's a lovely gift for the circumstances. How very thoughtful of you to go in on the group gift and give another item! She will enjoy having more things to open. If you still feel it isn't enough, perhaps add a topper for the jar candle (but I honestly don't think it's needed...)

I also agree with the others what you have done is enough. You must be very thoughtful to do all you are doing to begin with!

JMTCW, has this daughter ever been a regular church goer and I don't mean just holiday attendance. Personally, I would never expect the church that I attend just for holidays to give me a shower of any kind. I have my own church that I attend regularly and then I go to church with my parents on Easter, Mothers and Fathers Day.
You're being more than generous and I'd probably save the candle. You've done a good job helping for this shower.

The shower went very well! Yes, she did used to be a regular church goer, she grew up in this church and her parents still attend, her mom is the head of the board of directors. We moved here in July 8 years ago, she left for college in August 8 years ago, then she found a job elsewhere, so we have only ever seen her at the holidays when she came home to visit mom and dad. Turns out she is a candle nut and loved the candle, I gave her a 22oz. Island Mango and ended up putting 3 bottles of Neutrogena sunscreen and sunscreen spray in with it in a nice tropical looking gift bag, since they were going to Mexico on their honeymoon, I thought this was fitting. I am a vendor rep for several different companies so the only thing I actually had to pay for was under $5 for the Yankee, the rest of the items were free write offs for me. But i was concerned about looking cheap and I didn't want to look cheap, since they don't know that I get the stuff free/cheap as write offs or on sale it worked out well.

Glad to hear the shower went well. Also that you weren't out a lot of money for a great gift.
