The Dark Ages (you know those days too)

So, we got hit with some bad storms...Metro Detroit was under "orange and red" on the weather maps for a few hours...

one huge zap of lightening, and all the power went out.... about 10 minutes passed and the power was back on...........except for Comcast!!

OMG... no internet, no email, no tv, nothing as life as we know it. rotflol...it was like the "dark ages"!

One can only play Rollercoaster Tycoon so long before it gets really boring!

Thankfully it didn't take "until tomorrow" like they were predicting.

That was almost scary! I actually went to Meijers to "window shop" and came out with $100 worth of God Knows What! Had I had internet, I wouldn't have even left the house!

Being without energy / cable would make us broke.

LOL your like me! Then there's those games you know the ones the ones you like but hardly play on the Internet power goes off then it's Gee I'd REALLY like to play that game right now !

OMG!! That is SO funny! When hurricane Rita passed through here a couple of years ago we were without power for a week. I begged dh to go get a generator... not for a/c, but so I could get online!!! And you know that's bad because boy was it hot and sticky here.

DH got the generator though, and FEMA paid for it. So now we're prepared for the next time.

(On a hurricane note.. we wouldn't have made it without FEMA. They provided ice when there was NONE to be found and no power for the fridge..)

I remember back in 89 when hugo ripped us a new one. it was before internet but we were without cable or eletric for 3 weeks. we lost all our food that we didnt cook on the grill . my fmaily went to bed when it got dark cause there was noting else to do. I worked second shift at the time and when i got home from work, it was totally dark. creepy!!!on my nights off, I read by the lantern. it was kinda cool after we got used to it but dont want to go through that again.

I really didn't mind not having the tv after Rita/Wilma hurricanes but I really did miss a hot shower and coffee. I remember after Rita I told myself I would be okay in the morning after I had my coffee, and then it hit me I didn't have power for coffee!

That reminds me June 1 to 12 is tax free on hurricane supplies in Fl. I just wish a grill was a hurricane item we really do need a new one.
