snoring spinoff.. How old are the people that sleep in Seperate Bedrooms??

I noticed a lot of you sleep in seperate bedrooms.. how old are you all? When I think of seperate bedrooms it reminds me of elderly couples who can't stand each other anymore. Does sleeping apart make it harder to *be together*... How do you explain to the kiddo's (if they're present)?

Well, we are in our 40's (barely there anymore). My kids know, but they are not deaf and they know why. And, no kidding and no exaggeration.... but my neighbors have told me a number of times that when it is summer and we have our windows open, they can hear my husband snore at night. He has gone on bike marathons for fundraisers, and gotten kicked out of the tent area because his snoring kept people up.
I truly believe he has sleep apnea, but he refuses to believe this and won't go for a sleep study. I do worry about it, but he is an adult and not much I can do about it...

My parents stopped sleeping in the same bed when I was around 16 or so. I moved out (long story) and my MOM took my room. That was when they were 52 and 56. They still sleep in separate rooms. I guess they stopped sleeping in the same room because of my moms snoring, but they never got along so I'm sure that wasn't the only reason.

we don't have separate bedrooms, I sleep in the living room on the recliner.

DH snores badly--I think he is in an imaginary race with someone in his dreams to snore the loudest!!

OMG it's unnerving!! (he has sleep apnea, but will NOT get anything done about it).

We are 41 (me) and DH is 34. I just can't take it.

*that is not the only reason that I choose to sleep in the recliner though...our bed just kills my back, so I gotta sleep where I am most comfortable plus I like having the TV on while I sleep---I am an extremely light sleeper, so when I wake up, I like seeing/hearing it....plus it helps that it adds just a dash of light to an otherwise dark living room, this way I don't trip over the cat when I get up for water.

Wow, I couldn't not sleep with my dh. We both snore and we both are so used to it that neither of us can sleep if the other one isn't there.

Cool

We are in our early 40s and have slept in separate bedrooms for about 3 or 4 years now - also due to dh's snoring and I also think dh has sleep apnea but like one of the above posters said, dh doesn't think so and won't get it checked - yep he's an adult and not much else I can do about it. And as far as HHMMMMM goes, yes it is more exciting now. I have to take earplugs on vacation because we are in the same hotel room.

Usually when he is at work me & my 2 younger kids are in my bed sometimes oldest dd on my floor I feel safer that way when dh is gone.

I guess I am lucky. Both my sweetie and I snore like crazy and sleep right through it. It's a good thing too as we sleep mashed together. I wouldn't like seperate beds at all. But I some times wonder if we don't sound like to big ol' bears in hibernation.
