Im a bundle of excitement looking for houses- out of state move!

DH and I have been online this entire past year looking at houses.
We are moving out of state and wont be able to see the homes we have fallen in love with in person until Friday.
I cant even concentrate on anything because Im on the verge of tears from being so happy!
Ive lived away from my entire family for the past ten years and I'm finally going to be within a two hours drive from them!

Give me some ideas how I can get my mind out of the clouds and my emotions settled to actually get some packing done (not to mention cleaning!) lol

We are moving to the Cleveland area- we have narrowed our search down to a few areas- Solon, Hudson, Chagrin Falls, and Mayfield Heights.

we moved into our new house 2 months ago and not only do I feel the pain (still) for UNPACKING...I know the pain of packing--it's a wound that I don't think will heal anytime soon.

LOL

If I had to list only "one thing you hate the most".......CORRUGATED CARDBOARD (aka boxes) would top my list!

probably the best advice I can give you==when packing:

use little boxes!!! I mean LITTLE boxes... then even the youngest child will be able to pick up a box and put it where it needs to go on the truck.

mark each box (we used 25 little boxes in our kitchen) with the room they go to (kitchen 1, kitchen 2, etc)

Use the really big boxes to hold your linens like blankets and pillows--this way the box weight is not overwhelming!!

think ahead a little bit...

If you are moving to the Clvlnd area...and you have kids (age 1 to 18)... maybe you might want to move toward the west side of Cleveland--in the future, I can almost bet, one of the "hot spots" will be Cedar Point... the closer you get, the less you have to drive. You would still be within your range of family drive time (I would think). Also, when you have a teen, they could in effect get a job working for Cedar Point, and so it wouldn't be a difficult drive for them.

There are a lot of nice communities west of Cleveland.

I have family and friends who live in the Cleveland/Akron areas. There are nicer communities East/South of Cleveland (Solon, Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Bath, Hudson, Moreland Hills, Medina, Strongsville, Green, Lyndhurst, etc.) West of Cleveland is Rocky River, Lakewood, Avon.

Cehrin, I see you are now in Nanuet. What is wrong with Nanuet, NY...I grew up there! Hey, atleast they have 2 Targets now and one of them in the gaint mall with no parking to be found!! I know you are moving to be close to your family and I wish you the best of luck with moving. I would love to move back but I know I am here to stay in Miami.

Have fun! When we moved to TN we drove out and found our house in 1 weekend (it was all we had). Then when we moved back here, we flew up for the weekend and found our house again in one weekend.

CONGRATS!! I live about 20 minutes from Chagrin Falls and Mayfield. Hudson and Solon are about 30 minutes. I'd be happy to help in anyway possible if you have any questions.

Just an update- we just got back from Ohio and found a house- yay!
Now we just need to get in gear to pack this house condo up for the move!

Thanks for all of your advice/support. We found our new home in North Royalton OH- an area we never considered but once I saw the house, I fell in love!
