How Much are You Willing to Spend on a Cup of Coffee?

A friend of mine went to A DunkDonut/Baskin Robins combo place for a cappucino. The guy asked her if she wanted a large size, and she said "yeah, sure". Then she hears, "That'll be $6.39"!!! She about fell over, protested a bit, but paid. I don't think I could ever spend that much money on a cup of coffee/cappucino. Could care less if they put a little whipped cream on top! I am not willing to spend much more than $2.00 for a cup of coffee. For the amt that she paid, I could almost take all three kids to McD's for lunch!

How much are you willing to pay?

$2.00 - but I don't drink foo-foo coffee. Hot & black, that's it.

Dunkin Donuts large is now over 2.00 so I have downsized to a medium for 1.85. It's getting ridiculous what they are all charging for a cup of Jo and my cousin is still trying to convince me to make my own.

I use the Folger's instant coffee bags and add a little milk and sweetener. I have a latte maker at home that I can use if I want something fancy--it cost $50 and I figured I would save that much making 2 lattes a week for a few weeks. Plus, I can control the fat and calories going in to it, so the only time I go to Starbucks is to buy ground espresso beans for the latte maker!

I make my own at home but I adore coffee and have it out often. A large black coffee (not a latte) I usually pay between $1.50 and $2 for and that includes free refills. A large latte I would pay $4.50-$5.00 and only do so on occasion. I sell the stuff to make your own so I would kind of be killing my own business by succombing to Starbucks LOL

I hope that was a really good cappucino. I was in shock when I went to my bagel/coffee place and found out that a med. coffee was $1.89. I'll be making my own at home...not hard just lazy. It's a good thing I am Starbucks stupid,(there is a drive thru near me) I go in there I don't know the terminology of how to order, because I think they are $$$.

I'm a coffee snob, so if it was good, I'd pay that much. I don't drink or smoke so if I want a good cup of coffee I don't feel guilty about spending money on it.

That being said, we usually drink our coffee at home altho I love Kona coffee (real, not blended Kona) and will grind my beans every morning.

I can't imagine drinking Folgers. LOL!

I'm the only one that drinks coffee in the house, well, DH will occassionly, but I get my from Dunkin Donuts. I spend between 2.24 and 2.35 for the XL. I don't do Starbucks, but I'll save my DD cup and use it as a refill from 7-11 and it only costs me about 1.10.

Big tub of folgers/MH for the house. Go through a LOT.

Out - Starbucks, black, small $1.50+ or Dunkin Donuts small black (or medium) for $1.50 or so

Honeydew Donuts too (Hi Mass'ers!) $1.50 for medium.

No more, no less

Jason

Oh I spend between $2.90 (tall) to $3.50 (grande) vanilla latte at Starbucks. I only go once a week unless it's a high stress week. I don't smoke or drink so I will pay the big bucks for Starbucks.

$4 for a frap or about $1.50-$2 for expresso at starbucks -

but that is rare! I go there once every couple weeks, or I will go if I have gift cards, etc

usually make it at home with decent quality stuff like Peets or Seattle's Best

I will be the first to admit I am not a coffee connoisseur, LOL! When I drink regular coffee it is usually for the caffeine boost! I never liked coffee at all until a few years ago, now it isn't that bad to me. One thing I will splurge on is a White Hot Chocolate from Caribou. It's like drinking chocolate velvet.

The local coffee shop where we hang out here in Alaska is pretty spendy, but worth it to us since we have so little to choose from. Like others who have said in previous posts, we don't smoke or drink, so a foo-foo coffee is our only vice here on the island.

I usually get a triple shot white chocolate frappe w/whip and it it costs $4.35. Hubby usually gets a triple shot cinnamon mocha and it runs about the same.

If we go with the Grande house coffee with a shot of flavor, that runs $1.65 per cup. Not too bad for here.

We pay $3 each for a 16oz double shot mocha at the local espresso stand. That is a splurge that we only do about once a month. Add our son's raspberry italian soda into that and it is about $8 for all of it. Plus we get 3 punches on our punch card, and after we get 10 punches on the card we get a free drink.

OKay.. I save all the $$$ here so I can go to starbucks underneath dh's radar.. Usually, it runs me $5.14 for a Solo Vent Mocha Light Frap. When the kids were in school I went 3 times a week, but now that they're out I've pretty much cut it out completely because DD loves the vanilla bean frapp and that would run me $8+ for one visit. That I can't do..

Well, now there is a difference in coffee and a cup of cap or frap. I make my coffee at home, I get my caps or fraps at Starbucks and I usually spend 4.25 on those. Not doing to many of those anymore though b/c its 99 degrees here almost everyday now!! I spend more on water here than coffee!!

I know that in the mornings here the coffee at Mcdonalds is free!! You guys should try it, its pretty good.

This is funny as when I was at work f/t the lady in the office was addicted to DD coffee. Now make a note, I would get mine black and add half and half to my likeing, which I kept at work, and she would get hers with cream. She has lap band and began to wonder why she wasn't losing any more weight..she was drinking..now get this....5! XL Coffee's w/ cream a day. According to stats..a 10 oz one has 70 cals cause of the cream..so you do the math what she was injesting just in cream. Not to mention I told her she was paying over 3.00 a cup over there.

So...I went out and bought a Cuisinart on demand pot for work, keeps the coffee nice and hot for a long time as this was always the co-workers gripe. I bought DD coffee and all the fixin's and she still won't drink it..says it doesn't taste right...

So she was paying like 80 dollars a week to buy her coffee out. INSANE.

I will pay whatever at Starbucks or wherever I happen to go as I only get coffee, and not "drinks". The fanciest drink I get is a Starbucks Decaf Iced Coffee with Sugar Free Vanilla..light Ice and room for milk, and I put some Splenda, sprinkle some cnnamon on it, and a few drops of half and half and I'm off...
