I had my first car after I went through basic training and AIT........and now for the life of me I can't remember what it was, just that it was red and a standard. Didn't have it very long we got rid of it when I got married.....I loved that car because it was the first thing I ever got on my own.......

In high school I walked to school, but when I drove it was my parent's Chrysler Newport...a big boat The first car I owned was with my husband, shortly after we married and it was a Honda Civic. (the other extreme...very small) His first car was a mustang hatchback, mustard colored, but still kinda cool! The first vehicle I bought myself was a Plymouth minivan for my flower shop. That was before they were ubiquitous! |

My first car was a 1992 Escort GT Cayman. It was a beautiful 'cayman green' color with special trim. I paid cash for it. It was a Ford employee lease car with 8,000 miles on it that I bought through the employee purchase program (my dad was/still is an employee) after it was turned in. I sold it to a friend in 1999, who totaled it soon after he bought it. Sarah........mom to Jason & Devin |

A 1984 red Chevy Chevette...I thought it was beautiful even though it was small and had no air conditioning!...The first thing DH wanted to do when we got serious was for me to sell it! Then I drove his SAAB. This guy I used to work with joked that I went from a Chevette to a SAAB...hee hee! I told everyone that I had a "vette"...some thought I meant I had a Corvette! ~Lisa |

my first car was a 1971 or something like that AMC Gremlin. It was blue (where you could see color)...mostly it was just rust. LOL It ran like there was no tomorrow!! Uglier than heck... like I said... it was supposed to look like this picture, and probably did when it was new... but by the time I got it, some 9 years later...it was pretty much all rust with blue speckles. LOL

In 1989 my first car was a 1985 tan ford escort with red pinstripes and a hatchback. It had 2 doors and a manual transmission that my dad insisted on teaching me how to use. I still shudder just thinking about those weeks in the car with the *warden*.

Aaaah, the memories! It was July 1976, a Saturday one week before my 16th birthday. My Dad surprised me with a 1974 Mustang II Ghia. White with white vinyl roof, maroon interior - it was BEAUTIFUL! I blew the engine out in less than 6 months. |

In 1983, I had saved up enough money working at KFC to purchase my 1st car. A bright yellow 1971 Chevy Nova. It was awesome-jacked up in the back with nice wheels and a loud thumpin stereo. When I bought my 1st brand new car in 1987 I gave my Nova to my little Brother. He was 13 when I bought it and used to wash it and work on for me all the time. So he was happy to finally have it as his own.... ahhh the memories.

1977, shortly after marriage to dh, he bought me a used Subaru Coupe, canary yellow ( maybe even a brighter shade of yellow! ;-). The car was a real lemon, it was one of the first of it's production line, but I loved it. First *new* car was an early 80's Toyota small pick up truck - royal blue, I loved, loved, loved that truck. Then kids began to come along so the truck became obsolete. When we got up to to 3 kids, dh bought me a used mid 80's issue Isuzu Trooper - it was the best car I have ever had in the past 30+ years, wish our fam hadn't outgrown it! No way can we afford a Trooper now, even though our kids are growing up and moving away at this point and *I* think it would be the perfecto vehichle for moi-self at this point ;-) MZ |

I was spoiled...I got my license in 1986 and my first car was a 1969 GTO Judge that my dad bought for me at the Detroit Annual Autorama. It actually won first place that year and was featured in Hot Rod magazine!! I sold it after my first son was born for the down payment on our first house...I cried when I had to let it go!!

My first car was a Chevy Impala. It was a pukey tan color but my friends all loved it cause we could fit a lot of people in it! I got it in 1982 when I was 17, drove it my senior year in high school. I had it for maybe 3 years, it was old but it was reliable!

1986 Chevy Camaro...Black and fast! The summer before I was to turn 16, I had a job and one evening when I got home from work, my dad handed me a payment book and told me when I proved my responsibility I could get the keys. A while later, I got the keys and I said when will I get to 'see' what I am paying for....told me to walk around the other side of the house and there sat this beauty! I loved that car. and I appreciate the lesson I learned to get that car! Even after I was grown and had sold it. I located it and bought it again! Yes I bought the same car twice!

I got my 1st car at 15 and it was a 1980 Black Mustang with Red Stripes and a Sunroof to boot!! I so loved that car - that is until my older brother took it one night when he was drunk and I was asleep - drove it into the field next to our house and did donuts - passed out - and then just left it sitting there in the field!!! Oh for the love of your siblings!!!!

My first car was a 1959 Thunderbird. This was in 1969 and I had to share it with my sister. My dad had it painted pale pink for my sister and I to share. Unfortunately, he never paid for the paint job, so we got to drive it for a year before we had to give it up to the guys who did the work. What a hearbreak. Then my first car that I purchased was a 1967 Valiant. I was so proud of that thing. Very sad to trade it in on something more family friendly when I got married and started having kids.

My first car at 17 in 1983 was a 1978 Ford Pinto and it was a special edition at that, White with Blue Racing stripes, I loved that car, she was named "Dabble" the license plates started out with DAB and my Daddy sang out the song a Little Dab will do ya and she got her name from there. She had over 100,000 miles on her when an FBI Agent Totaled her in 1989 when I was very pregnant with my 3rd child and I got nothing for her either and was without a car for months. I miss that car badly.

Canary yellow Subaru Coupe , already used, have no idea what year was the originating year for the car, I got it in the mid 70's. It was a major lemon, but I loved that car cuz it it was my very first car bought by my bridegroom at the time, the same dh I've been married to for more than 3 decades. Awwwwww, id'nt romantic? ;-) MZ |

The first car my sister and I shared...it was a four door, six seater 4 cylider chevy celebrity in mint green with mint green interior. We called it gumby. My brother owned a 6 cylinder 5 seater two door chevy celebrity with tinted windows that was a burgandy color...we called it pokey...LOL I then got my own car ~ present from my parents for graduation...a 1990 buick century. It lasted about 6 months and then I slid on black ice and totalled it. They then bought me a 1991 chevy corsica. I LOVED this car! I would still have it to this day if I wasn't rear ended by some a-hole who decided to drive his elderly mom's car that hadn't seen new brakes or tires since the late 70s... My parents were not rich. The deal was I paid for my own college and they provided me with a vehicle to get there...It was all good though, my dad profited from the accident because he bought the car wholesale and the bluebook value was about $3000 more than what he paid for it. The car was in his name at the time of the accident so he got the money. My now-husband bought me a car to replace that one...it was a 4 seater buick regal. It served me well but I love my body-hiding impala!! I am trading it in for an uplander or teraza though at the end of the summer...gotta make room for the family!

Showing my age, but my sister and I had a bright yellow 1972 or 73 Vega (with black stripes). Sometimes the passenger door would open when you made a turn. Real safe car!

I had a 1990 silver Chevy Cavalier w/ black racing stripes. It was a graduation gift from my parents in 1993. The first thing I ever bought myself was a brand new 1995 Mitsubishi Mighty Max truck. No A/C no radio but I bought it with my own money and I loved it.

A 1975 Pontiac Starfire! I think it was rivaling with the Honda 2+2? If I remember correctly. Hatchback. I got it in 1983 though. For a used car it was such a fantastic deal and a GOOD car. The engine was so quiet, you could barely hear it. Unfortunately at that time, no one educated me about the importance of having your oil checked, so I basically ran the darn thing out of oil. The radiator pooped at the same time., too. Car just shut itself off 11 at night, driving on a highway! Bleh. ![]() Anyway, I got a brand new radiator for 98 bucks (20 bucks LESS than a reconditioned one!), filled the engine with oil and started it up. I can't believe it started at all, but the engine was choppy and the car shook a bit. I kept turning if off and starting it back up...within 10 minutes it was running completely smooth again!! My Dad was completely stunned. I drove that car for another year and a half. ![]() Sold it for parts for to a family friend mechanic when I got married. How I didn't kill that car, I'll never know. THAT was quite a car!
