Best Facial Hair Removal

My 80 year old mom has a lot of facial hair (upper lip, chin).

Best personal home waxing equipment?

Thanks!

I buy the NoTweeze wax from the Sally Hansen store in the next town over. I can't seem to find it anywhere else for some reason. I just heat it up in it's little tin can on the stovetop and apply it with a popsicle stick. It is very easy to use.

Hope this helps.

I think the Sally Hansen wax strips might just do the trick for her. Just warm the wax strips between your hands, apply to upper lip & rip away. No mess. Do you think your Mom can tolerate the pain? You could always get a depilatory, which would be less pain, unless she has sensitive skin.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to check out the suggestions.

paxpuella - My mom is 80, but she has the energy and health of someone half her age. She is one tough lady so I know it won't be a problem. She asked me to post here.

Thanks again!

I would be leery of waxing 80 year old skin. I know my grandmother's have really paper thin skin...one due to taking coumadin and the other due to diabetes and the effects of chemotherapy. I think maybe a cream would be safer or even shaving? I know on some packages of carefree pantyliners there are $5 off peelies for carefree hair remover. It sells for about $8 or so at CVS and it's usually $6 on sale so if you find it for that price good for you!
I think maybe asking your gynecologist or md would be better than just trying it...this is mtcw btw...
Why the GYN?? Because they are constantly looping hair removal options at my ob/gyns office so they are up to date on women's heath.

Omg I would never wax an 80 yr. old's skin....I remember my g-mother and how thin her skin was...I would use a cream hair remover.....never a wax....Sherri

I agree about the thin skin. My parents are only in there 60's and I swear if they accidently hit something their skin just goes to bleeding.

My mom uses a cream made by Nair on her upper lip and chin. HTH.

Red face

I'm an RN in a Recovery Room, and just from taking iv's out with tape, DON'T Do IT! Use one of the cream depillatories. You might have to do it every few weeks, but it's better than a skin tear. Just my thoughts! Donna

Thanks again for the replies. My mom is not a typical 80 yar old. She is TOUGH and does not have thin skin. She does get waxed at the hairdresser, but wants to do it at home to save money. Think of her as a 50 year old.)
