How many tickets have you had?

The DS showing off thread got me wondering, how many tickets have we all had?

I drove like an idiot in high school, but have only ever had non moving violations, seatbelt, radar detector and a parking ticket, never anything with points.

How many tickets with points have you had?

I've only had 1 ticket. And I deserved it 79 in a 55, I was even old enough to know better.

Now warnings I've had 6 of those. 2 of them were in 1 night about 10 miles apart. LOL Oddly enough they were for completely different things. One was for speeding (65 in a 35), are you seeing a trend lol, and the other was for bright lighting a cop. I didn't mean to bright light him, my little light thingy that tells you if you are on bright or not had just blown. Actually most of them were from speeding but I manage to get out of them.

I've had none in the last 9 years.

Only 1, for speeding, at that was 12 years ago. We were moving from Maine to Alaska and while visiting family in Nebraska I got caught for going 10 over. Funny thing is, everyone with Nebraska plates were leaving me in the dust, but I think it was because we had out of State plates was why he pulled me over.

Thankfully I could just write out a check for the fine and send it to the address on the ticket and I didn't have to stick around for anything.

I have been pulled over once, and I was so mad! I was pulled over for changing lanes without a signal, the kicker was that I hadn't changed lanes once! He only gave me a warning, but I was mad.......

Lets see 1 ticket for an at fault auto accident, cried my way out of the nedt one (speeding 52 in a 35 zone) less than a year later. Did real well 10 years go by got one cause my brat of a son took off his seat belt AND the motorcycle office backed up to check if it was on. 1 for driving on a suspended liscense, then 10 eyars go by and I get one for driving my sons car with an expired tag on it. Oh and cried my way out of 2 other speeding tickets.

1 ticket for going 5 miles over the speed limit. I also had an expired insurance card with me, even though we were currently insured. I had to go to court 3 times, paid a $80 fine and had to go to traffic school and pay $40 for that. What a headache!

I have never had to pay a ticket, so I put 0. I have had 3 warnings for speeding, I received 1 parking ticket on a military base, went before the Capt of the base, presented my case and he disposed of it. Had a parking ticket disposed of by a Youth Bureau Detective I worked with when I used to do Child Protective Services. So I haven't actually had to ever pay for a ticket, these were all over 10 years ago.

Just a couple of parking tickets for me.
Guess I'm pretty lucky because I have a fairly heavy foot at times!

One ticket for going 5 miles over the speed limit.....it was end of month and my bet was he needed to fill his quota. I guess one ticket in over 30 years of driving isn't too bad. Never even went on my record as I did traffic school for it......

Unhappy Lead Foot Here

I had to vote 10+

2 wreckless driving (due to speed) at age 16

1 speeding at age 17

2 speeding at age 20-21

1 speeding at age 30
1 wreckless driving (due to speed) at age 30

2 speeding at age 33
1 no seat belt at age 33
1 expired sticker at age 33

And I am certain there is probably a few others that I have forgotten about.

I'm sorry I posted wrong I did get a couple of tickets but fought them and didnt get the points (and they dropped them) So with points its [b]0/B]

1st time I got pulled over at 16 for passing a truck in a no passing zone -- Got a Written warning

2nd time I got pulled over for going 65 in a 35 and that was being nice (17yrs old)-- He gave me a ticket

3rd time: Cop didnt actually pull me over (since he probably didnt clock me in time) I was going to Ft Dix to see my hubby leaving for Iraq and was doing 115 when I noticed him with the radar gun! Slowed it down to about 85, and he pulled out put his lights on but didnt pull me over just pulled along side of me and was making hand gestures (told me to slow down, and use my head, because im sure that you talking to me with your hands is more safe than my speeding )

4th time: Look back at 2nd but this time at 23 and he gave me a ticket for my license being expired (only 15 days)

I haven't been pulled over now in about 2 years thankfully!!!

I've gotten 3 tickets over 13 years ago for speeding. Then I married dh (who's a police officer), and haven't gotten one since. We're a small town so I've been pulled over, but then usually know the guy and he sends me on my way. Dh can get out of tickets anywhere though because he carries his badge in his wallet and when he goes to get his license the guy that pulled him over sees that he's a cop and sends him on his way due to profession courtesy.

I think it's kind of like working at target... you don't get paid much, but sometimes you get a really good deal on stuff.

That's kinda like DH. We have a lot of rode blocks here so we have to go through them fairly regularly. DH owns a Napa AutoCare and they service all of the local police cars and several of the state trooper cars. Every time we go through a road block and they see it's us they tell us to go on they don't need to see anything.

Although, DS knows he won't get away with not telling us about getting pulled over. He knows they will let us know probably before he has even pulled away.

I've had 5 speeding tickets
69 in a 55 when I was 18
69 in a 55 when I was 19
64 in a 45 when I was 21 (I was pregnant and really had to pee)
55 in a 35 when I was 22
72 in a 65 when I was 22 (he pulled me over because I had out of state tags)
The state of VA sent me a nice little letter telling me that if I got one more they woud suspend my license. It certainly didn't slow me down but I'm a little more cautious. I don't live in VA anymore or I would have probably had more since they are so picky over there. Haven't had on in 11 years thank goodness but DH has had 2 in the past three months.

I've had more than my share.

The only one I "got out of" was the one where I threw up on the officer. I was sick, sick, sick w/ a stomach virus and trying to get home. Officer pulled me over, I rolled down my window. He asked why I was going so fast and I turned to answer him and threw up out the window. He let me go without even a warning...

I have had only 1 ticket and that was for speeding. I had my radar dectector on but the cop got me coming up over a hill. Plus it was raining. I shouldn't have been going that fast...I was trying to get to the ballfield where my now dh was playing...we had just begun dating (4 months) and I didn't want to miss any minute of him in his uniform. (he has great legs, what can I say? )

i thought i had 2, but can only remember one. It was the day after XMAS, about 7 years ago, I think. It was a 3 way stop, like a T turned on it's side. The police officer was sitting BEHIND a bush on the longer part of the T. -l on this example, tho, it looks like the shorter part of the T. Anyway, I was at the stop sign on the "go thru" part of the T. Anyway, he said I didn't come to a complete stop. The speed limit was 25, and I came up to the stop, and he said I did a "rolling stop". CUT ME A BREAK!!!!! But, I am always sure to STOP now. Funny how you notice how many people do "rolling stops" after you get a ticket for one. Not like I blew completely thru the stop sign. I don't even know how he could see me there!!!!

I thought there was another ticket, but, I can't think of it. I did get pulled over with warnings a couple times.

I have had 7 tickets since 1982.

1-- driving with studded snow tires (I was 16 and didn't even know what studded snow tires were...let alone knowing they were on my car)

1-- no points "unspeeding" ticket (if there really is such a beast because the judge rolled his eyes and threw it out of court).... ticket for going 50 on the expressway, which was 5 miles under the "minimum". (stupid cop)

1-- car accident (age 17)...rear ended a cop car who was stopped at a stop light... I was too busy looking at the half naked men working on the roof of a new gas station. LOL

1-- speeding: going 5 miles per hour in a 4.5 mph zone at a shopping center parking lot in Virginia Beach on Laskin Rd.
(my car did not have a digital dash... and besides...4.5?????)

and the most unnerving of all:

3 tickets from the same city (Canton, MI) on the same damn day for the same damned thing!!! (three different cops).

"MA'AM DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU ARE BEING PULLED OVER TODAY? (the first time I didn't...the second time I figured, and the third time I KNEW): YOU'RE GETTING A TICKET FOR NOT HAVING THE LIGHTBULB WORKING THAT SHINES ON YOUR LICENSE PLATE!"

Each ticket cost me $80 plus court costs! (no points).

needless to say, I no longer drive through Canton, MI...I will spend my money, time and effort in other cities...even if it takes me an extra hour to drive AROUND the city of Canton.

That happened to me too! I was about 17 and we did have 3 other kids in the car, I forget where wwe were going. The policeman said we rolled through the stop and then he searched the ENTIRE car. My friend cried tha whole time and I don'tt hink she has EVER told her parents about that and it was almost 20 years ago. I called my Dad right up to tell him what a jerk the guy was, we did nothing wrong.

I have had a few warnings and i have a VERY HEAVY FOOT. I truely believe when i do get my first ticket, it is a well deserved one. I have deserved one for 20 years so it's about time I get caught.

DH on the other hand has had LOTS of tickets, enough for both of us.

Ummm...you did do something wrong. You rolled through a stop sign. Searching the car may have been a bit extreme, but it could have been done for several different reasons--the two that come to mind is the car you were in may have matched a description of a car that had been stolen or used in another crime, or possibly one of the people in the car matched a description of a wanted or missing person. With your friend crying, the officer may have been suspicious...

I wasn't there, but the officer wasn't a jerk just because he stopped (with probable cause) your vehicle and then searched it. That's what his job is. Now, he could have been a jerk because of something he said or the attitude he gave you but that's a different thing.

And for all of you that say you got out of a ticket by crying--did you cry intentionally to get out of a ticket? Just wondering...

I wasn't driving, my friend was and no I don't htink she did roll through it. The police took all of us out of the car and patted us down, searched the entire car for a rolled stop sign? I am pretty sure the only reason he did was because we were all young and he thought he'd find something. My friend who was crying was sitting on the ground the whole time with her hands over her face (after we were searched), she wasn't crying to get out of it, she couldn't even talk. It was traumatic and I don't think he ever gave her a ticket for the stop sign either? SO what gave him probable cause? Nothing other than he was loking for it? He could have said he saw one of us bending over, any excuse will do really, can't prove it wrong. But the fact that she didn't get a ticket makes me think she didn't roll through the stop after all.

You may not have gotten a ticket because he felt sorry for you. But, yes, rolling through a stop sign is probable cause. If the car matched a description of a vehicle that was wanted (and I'm just opining this as the case) and then it was seen rolling through a stop sign, then yes it could have been a legitimate stop--it could have also been an officer who was being a jerk. I don't know. I'm just saying that your perspective of the situation was probably jaded--at 17 weren't we all sure of ourselves and thought the cops were jerks?

If I had a dollar for every traffic stop that didn't result in a ticket--I'd be a rich, rich person!

That's true.

But if we were a car full of old ladies instead of teenage girls do you still think he would have searched us? He was profiling.

It's not profiling, it's playing the odds...Of course, now days, I know some pretty rough and tough grannies!!! Most of which are packing heat!

got pulled over when I was 18. My mom was with me and WOULDN'T SHUT UP...telling the officer that "he can't give me a ticket". She was the one who told me to speed up to get her to an appointment I got clocked 52 in a 45. My ticket was over $300 and I had to pay about $350 for traffic school so the ticket wouldn't go on my record (I was moving out of state the next month so didn't want increased rates in new state). It was a pricey lesson...to not listen to mom LOL

I have gotten pulled over 3 times since and always gotten a warning. They were all 5 MPH over the limit...I guess cops here have nothing better to do

Been pulled over three times for speeding. All three resulted in a warning... They were all when I was younger -- 20 something. I have since slowed down and my kids call me a 'granny driver'. Heh.

I got a parking ticket once on a rental car while we were on vacation. We noticed that they had put the wrong license plate number on the ticket and so never paid it. Is that bad? I have always wondered if someone else got in trouble for that.
