All the posts about income, etc. got me to thinking. Some of us on this board have to be close to retiring (or are retired). What factors would help to make that decision? I am a teacher and have taught most of my married life except to stay home when kids were little. I am about 6 or 7 years from retirement. I can tap into my retirement at age 62 but can not buy insurance from my present place My dh went on disability 2 years ago because of 2 illnesses so I work to keep insurance and because I like it. What would make you retire?

I don't work but DH would permanently retire if we had enough money to do so.
I'm beginning to believe it would take winning a large lottery!
Everything keeps going up, up, up! Gas, milk, food, etc., etc., etc.

Lots of money. So, I guess a business that would make enuf money for us to live off of. Maybe I'll be lucky enuf to invent something and make a huge amount of money from that. Hard to retire without enuf money.

The lottery would be my early out....other than that, not enough money for the future two kids and college.....
