| Holding Myspace accountable for harboring Sex Offenders List Of Sex Offenders With MySpace Pages Released - Community News Story - WDIV Detroit 200 in Michigan alone!! Now if all other states would file suit like Mike Cox did, then MySpace would be a heck of a lot safer--not just for our children...but for all of us! (remember sex offenders don't have to prey on children...)

Perverted Justice has been hard on Myspace's proverbial butts about removing convicted sex offenders profiles, they have followed suit on I think last count was 1000 + profiles removed, volunteers are going through state by state county by county and searching Myspace and reporting the offenders with the proof and Myspace has been very compliant in removing the profiles. The only problem is these sex offenders and pedophiles can and do go right back online and make new profiles under fake names and it takes awhile to find them again. Myspace needs to update software to make it so that if deleted profiles of sex offenders try to re-sign up they are tracked by IP # and then banned, however that brings a big problems because of AOL who doesnt give you a IP# that remains the same like most ISPS do, so they could ban a person who isnt a offender. Its a tough job and it takes hundreds of hours and volunteers to get sometimes just 1 profile found and deleted. One lawsuit I dont think will do much good nor would dozens it took PJ how long to get Myspace to co-operate with them about 3 yrs.. pretty sad. Then there are people who cyberstalk others make up fake profiles of people and do hurtful things online about them its never ending battle.

I completely agree cici... The last story I heard about myspace was that they weren't releasing any names to authorities because "it is invasion of privacy" blah, blah, blah... and "even offenders have rights" according to their policy. I was glad to see that the names were turned over to the State's attorney's office, and shocked that so many names appeared on the list. (a few of which are women). If every state did that, then I think it would force myspace into policing itself--be it with volunteers or hired hands, as it should have been done to begin with! I see nothing wrong with websites like that doing background checks on the ssn's of their potential clients.
