We do them if we can. Hubbys company goes all out. Last year for some reason they had to cancel and all the employees got checks for $400. If that is how much they are spending per employee, they are nuts!! We enjoyed the cash though!

It really depends. A lot of times the "functions" at DH's work are more obligatory, so we go. I don't like to go, and he knows it. I'm not exactly one to "suck up", so , it can get pretty interesting , if you kwim!

My dh's company throws a huge family picnic every year and we have a great time. It is really set up nice for the kids with carnival games, rock climbing wall, airboat rides, swimming pool, etc. For food they have Coke trailers everywhere, snow cones, fish fry, bbq, ice cream freezers packed full. We let our daughter take someone every year. This year her cousin and her friend that went last year are jockeying for who gets to go this year...we might have to take 2 tagalongs with us in September.

Yeah I go because its at work and if you don't go you get to work. The outside ones I usually won't go, I get ignored at work why would I waste my time to be ignored when I'm also bored out of my mind.

My dids are 14 and 16 now, and those company picnics are generally NOT geared to entertain teens. So, sometimes we go, sometimes not. Sometimes a few in the family go. Not a tried and true here....BUT DH is very social and usually is called upon to help plan and so he usually almost has to go....

we try to go every year-we just went to one yesterday. They have it at a major amusement park-give us free tickets, parking pass, g.c.'s for the park, and a picnic. For the past couple of years, they have done it so that the tickets are actually season passes-so very well worth it to go. We do enjoy chatting at the catered picnic w/ DH's coworkers, and seeing ppl we know throughout the park, but it's designed so that all the co-workers are really only all together for whatever part of the picnic they want to attend (it's 1.5hrs, but you can stay as little or as long as you like.) We had a great time yesterday and are looking forward to going again later this week courtesy of DH's company (we didn't use any of our g.c.'s yesterday and they gave us a pretty generous amt.)
