Mine are fairly long and I do keep filing them off! I like a medium length

I only paint my toenails.

I am pretty lucky that my nails are strong and I can wear them long - I usually do my own manicure and, for summer, wear a light beige color

I always keep mine very short or else I will end up with scratch marks all over my face and body.I'm just too clumsy for long nails.

Okay, I'm a nail biter. Everytime I go to get a set of nails I get some really ugly looks from the technicians.

I'm Nervous by Nature..

I hardly ever do my nails....they are short, and will never grow long....I do own a nail file somewhere, but not sure where it is......

My Best Friend took me to have my nails done, and they put on these really long nails, and I could do nothing with them on, and ended up tearing my real nail almost at the cuticle when I caught the long nail on the lid of a trash can.......

I wore acrylics for years but took them off a year ago. My own nails go through odd stages - sometimes they will be tough and long, then they will all break and go all flakey on me. Right now they are right at the end of my fingers, growing strongly and have a clear coat on them. It's easier to type with them this length.

Those of you that do acrylics--do your real nails get weak/brittle/soft/funky after wearing them for so long? I love the look but have been too chicken to ever have them done.

Mine vary in length but are ALWAYS painted. It skeeves me greatly to not have polish on my nails. No idea why...probably some personality defect.

My nails are a mess! They are short and my hands are rough from all the gardening I do. I have a nice butteryfly garden but ugly hands. The last manicure I had the one doing had to tell me what a mess my hands were...haven't been back since then.

But I must say my nails on my hands look nicer than the nails on my feet, my dh feet look nicer than mine. I run and right now I have black toe on one of my nails. I think I will be losing that one, again. No open toed or sandals for me, ever!

Here is a link if you really want to know about black toe.

Ugh! I've had runner's toe also. The first time I just had no idea about it because I couldn't for the life of me remember what had dropped on my toe or what I'd stubbed it on....thought I was losing not only my toe nail, but my mind too! LOL

I bit my nails for 19 years and quit before I got married to I could have nice nails My nails are natural and medium length. I can't type well enough with long nails. I like them just over the tips of my fingers. If they don't break off (which they often do because I am not gentle with them), I have to cut and file them down if they get too long.

I normally am "unpainted"...just natural and voted that way. but today I do have them polished because my 6 year old wanted to paint them and have me paint hers

Ah, nails! ;-)
I resigned my position at work nearly a year ago, after the first time I'd been in the workforce for decades. About a year before I quit work I started getting my nails manicured and painted about once every 6-8 weeks, just cuz I wanted to treat myself, had never done it before. But at work I found myself self conscious of my *gardener hands* - stained and chipped and raggedy nails, hence my new found fondness for manicures.
My boss and secretary (2 of the coolest women on the planet) started comenting on how beautiful my nails were. They talked about how we all should get together for a daytime *slumber party* sometime and do each others' nails. (we are ll in our 50's)
When I turned in my letter of resignation and my co-workers planned a farewell dinner and gift for me, they gave me the most fabulous box of nail care stuff I coulda ever imagined. I loved it!
I am still not really into doing my nails myself, due to physical quirks I need someone to do them for me vs. doing them myself. And it really galls me to need to pay a manicurist to get my nails looking clean and tidy, but I really do like the way they look and feel afterwards, and for just moi-self (as a treat, mind y'all) - it's worth it.
I tried the acrylic nails only once, hated the way they felt, had them taken off after a month. They always felt like they would rip off at the least provocation.
Since quitting work nearly a year ago hadn't had my nails done until last week.
My nails are medium length right now, have never been a nail biter. Even w/out a manicure, my natural nails are usually of medium strength. W/out a pro maincure they are also usually very raggedy looking ;-)
For $15-$17 a pop, once every coupla months, a mancure is a treat I relish and dh doesn't complain about shelling out to pay for such a thing ;-)

My own nails have always been short...nail biter here...Not extremely bad, but I still bite nonetheless. I used to paint them when I was younger...Usually with a frost color...Sometimes now I put on the fake short french manicure nails myself...I use Nailene glue...They look really good...My friends think I go to a nail salon to get them done, but I do them myself...I swear by this glue...that's the key...It holds them on forever...White and purple bottle...I like the nails short length so they are manageable... ~Lisa
