Question What would you do if hubby bought you....

a set of 20 inch chrome wheels for "YOUR" Yukon.

DH wanted money from savings to buy me something and came home with 4 used wheels and tires for my truck. I paid $20 bucks to have them put on and I don't like them. The tires are worn, not completely, but still enough to make it ride/drive funny in the rain today. and did I mention that I was perfectlly happy with the what was on MY truck. welllll now that I don't like them, he is giving me the silent treatment and is being all pissy about the whole thing. he told me I am wasting money by having them taken off.

uggggghhhhh!
thanks for listening...

and did I mention we are leaving tomorrow on a 2000 mile road trip in MY Yukon

First I would act like I waa just pleased as puddin. Then I would wait a few weeks and then "need" money from the savings account to buy him something. I would then buy me something I really wanted and give it to him.

Are the wheels and tires low profile? That might explain the different ride and handling.

too funny my dh did the same thing once, I thought it was a waste of $ for him to buy the fancy chrome sporty rims lol and I could have cared less. ..
but they did make my car look nicer. suddenly all these people, well mostly guys.. were complimenting me on my 'sporty' car which was a little compact sedan and not even a sporty model :-)

I would be happy if they were the wheels I wanted. If not (as in your case), I would praise him for the effort but say that for safety reasons, you CANNOT have a bad handling tire on your car ad suggest next time he take you with him to ensure they will fit and ride properly on your car.

I also like the suggestion of getting money out to buy him something and give him something you want (like that new dishwasher you have your eye on )

well at least I don't feel lonely anymore! I would not call them low profile, it is 3 inches wider and taller than what I am used to, but I think it is more that they did not have as much tread as the others.
Since they were bought from a friend of a friend, he can take them back and get the money back so that is a good thing.
You would think after 15 years of marriage, he would know me enough not to buy me things like that,.. kinda of like the pancake griddle I got last year for Christmas:-) I can't wait to find some pink seat covers for his truck! thanks again for listening.

In the first years of our marriage I might have grinned and beared it for a while and then let him know that I was just not safety comfortable with these. However, since I have been with DH for over 20 years, he knows better than that by now. No more protecting his fragile ego when he buys "me" something he wants. I used to call him on it when he did it, now he knows not to do it cuz he is just throwing our money away. Time changes SOME things....
