What's your favorite city?

I've traveled quite a bit. Even though I'm a country girl, I love to visit cities.
A couple of days is enough for me, though .

My personal favorite is Amsterdam. What's yours? And why?

In the US, definitely Boston!
Outside the US, I've only been to Europe a couple of times, Israel, and Mexico, so my experience is limited. From what I've seen, I'd go with Vienna.

Charleston, SC. I love Rainbow Row, the Plantations, the Market, the Battery - anywhere in historic downtown Charleston. DH and I got married at the White Point Garden Gazebo at Battery Park.

London-OMG, the shopping, and the sights you see....not just the buildings, I'm talking about the people. When we visited, I had my picture taken in Trafalgar Square next to a guy with a huge glue mohawk. We just asked him to come sit with us and get his picture taken. The shopping is out of this World. Calais France was very nice, too, not anywhere close to the size of London, of course, but, again, neat shopping.

In the USA, I like NYCity for a BIG city, and I think Jacksonville for a smaller city. I love the downtown waterfront area, and also the beaches. Jacksonville is HUGE, about the size of a whole county. In fact, I think it IS all of Duval County.

I actually live in Charleston, SC and do love it here! Glad to see others like it too

I don't half mind where we live I'd say my favorite place is where my grandparents are in Vermont since there is so much family history there.

I LOVE NEW YORK! Seriously though, I really do. I used to travel there for work when I was a retail buyer and I could live there in a heartbeat. DD is like me, a big city girl...ds and hubby are more laidback, outside kinda guys and would be happy with a camper in the woods.

My friend lives in Zanesville. You are from the famous Y bridge. We went to a park to look over the city. You could see the bridge. It is really neat.

I really loved San Francisco when we were there.

Not really a city but the Lake Tahoe area was beautiful.

I really would like to see NYC.

ETA: I thought Mont St Michel was one of the coolest cites - and the fries they sold inside were AWESOME.

Pittsburgh!

We love the black and gold! Just being in the city is like a religious homecoming for my hubby and I really enjoyed the time we were there. It was totally different then where we live and it was a great experience.

I have never been to Mont St Michel but it looks awesome!

ITA with you regarding Paris (shudder)!

I love Radolfzell (home town), Stuttgart (used to live there), Avignon, and San Francisco. And Toronto.

San Francisco, far and away. Beautiful sites, very cosmopolitan, city life, beach life, great rowdy history. My kind of place!~

We're going to Charleston (TONIGHT ). We're SO looking forward to seeing the city this time. We were down in October (stayed on Isle of Palms on "million dollar row" or whatever it's called) for my SIL's wedding and didn't get to see ANYTHING.

My all time fave place is Niagara Falls (the Canadian side). We went there for our honey moon and that was THE best time I've had. Maybe because it was w/o kids?

Maybe my answer will change after we get back from Charleston and Savannah!

I am another Pittsburgh fan, I feel it is a very much underrated city, would move there in a heartbeat under certain conditions that only have to do with our fam situation.
Overseas I love Taipei and almost any other city in Taiwan and also loved Hong Kong... but only for visits, I don't think I would want to live there.
Paris... pffffft. Hated it in the 70's.
I also like London for visits, but definitely don't think I could happily live there due to the social travails there.

PS... I also love beyond reason, likely due to fam connections, Buffalo, NY. Another vastly underated city, IMNSHO. There is just so much to do there and around there: beaches, cultural events, shopping, and the locals are as great as they are in NH ;-)

London. I would love to go there for a month or two.

I have been to Paris twice and found the people not overly friendly but certainly not rude. And it is beautiful in spite of the French. I do hate their penchant for going on strike at a moments notice.

Hong Kong I loved also. Teeming with people, hot, muggy and utterly fascinating.

I loved the diversity of Hong Kong. It is so alive and exciting. It has to be my favorite. In the states, I grew up around Boston so that weighs heavily. I love Boston and NY- again because of the diversity. I did not understand the impact of the neighborhoods and all the differences available in daily life until I moved to the midwest! There is much less diversity here.

Monterey, CA -- where both sets of my grandparents have lived since the 1930's. It has changed a lot over the years (way too many people and cars now!) but it still takes me back to my childhood and I love the wharf and cannery row and the city's history of which my grandparents were a big part of.

It's a toss up between Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. I went there on vacation in February and loved both of these cities. I hope to go back again soon.

Doesn't anyone feel the love for Miami?? Where else can you feel like you are in South America without ever leaving the US? The beaches, fishing, golf, sun, night life, it has it all.
