How did you meet your SO

I am just sitting here reading posts and thought I'd start one to see how we all met our significant others

I will start.. I met my BF at Penn Station in NYC. I had gone there to meet a friend for lunch and to walk around the city; however NJ Transit had other plans LOL we came in at an area where I had no idea where I was (now I know I just needed to take an elevator up and I would have been where I always end up after getting off the train) anyways I was by a K-Mart and very confused so I started looking for someone who I thought would tell me how to get out of the train station so I could get to Macys. He happend to walk out and smiled at me so I approched him and asked how to get out of the train station and he said he would tell me if I went to Houlihans and had a drink I agreed and as soon as we took the elevator up I knew I should have just left but he was so funny so I joined him for a drink and we talked and exchanged numbers. He called me the same night and asked if I wanted to go on a "real date" with him and I accepted so the following weekend we met back at the train station, walked to times square and walked around some of the stores and then he took me to dinner at Jekyll and Hydes, after dinner we walked some more then he walked me back to the train station and walked me down to my train.

We meet on my first day of college. (It was the beginning of his 2nd year)

We had an instant connection!! Not love at first sight but, some definite chemistry that had nothing to do with the class!!!

I went looking through profiles at Yahoo chat room.Saw bf and said yep, thats the one I want. Chatted and flirted with him awhile then he asked me if I had a bf and I said no,and he said "YOUR MINE"! I said really? He said yes. So,then he asked me if I wanted to makeout.I said yes, picked him up and went and spent a whole week at a hotel, going out to eat, going to movies, and doing the town, then we spent the last of our money buying each other engagement rings and have been together since. That was 3 or 4 years ago.We have not been apart since the first day we met.

At a really bad dance club. I mean really this place sucked but it was about the only place my friends would ever drag me to and one night his friends made him go and we actually had mutual friends but didn't know it. We met and have been inseperable since 1999.

Work, he was my boss! I worked for Western Union, which was going through major restructing. I went on vacation for a week and came back and found out I had a new boss. He was from Miami and Western Union headquarters was in NJ and I was from NY. I actually told him at one point I would not date him because he was not only my boss but he was from Miami. Let's just say less than 6 months later I was married to him and living in Miami.

At work. I was the asset control person at a big computer company and DH was an engineer there. I needed help finding a computer asset in the computer room. I asked my DH (well, he wasn't my DH then...) to help me since he used the computer room a lot. From there a co-worker told DH he should ask me out before someone "snagged me". DH emailed me for a date, I said yes and less than a year later we were married. We've been married 10.5 years and have a 6 and 8 year old

My guy and I ride the same bus. He gets off at the same stop that my bank is at . . so we would get off, he would walk with me to near the ATM and wait til I was done. We would walk across the street and part ways. I used to see him watching over me until the bus came (about 15 minutes). One day he said that if I wanted his number just ask. I was in shock and didn't say anything. The next morning I again got off and when he said something about robbing myself I said no I want to take you up on your number offer. We exchanged numbers, called later that night and it grew from there.

We've been together 2 1/2 years & about to move into our new mobile home.

Was chatting on line with some friends in an aol chat room. He popped in and we were all discussing how we were going to boycott aol the next day. And I im'd him to get in on it also. That was back in the day where you paid $2.95 per hour after like 8 hours, or something like that. I just remember my aol bill being between $150 and $300 per month. Anyway that was 11 years ago. Been married 9 years the end of July.

At work. I have one of those faces that people love to talk to, and this man loves to talk. We like to say he chased me around until I caught him. That was 17 years ago last month. We aren't married but we talk about it sometimes.
I love this thread.

I blame my best friend and DH's brother for getting us together. Both of them were in AA and on New Year's Eve we went to an AA party. Well, me and my best friend were the youngest ones there and someone suggested that we go to and Al-A-Non party. So, a few of us head over there. I basically sat by myself and the DH came over and asked me to dance and told me he gave good back rubs! I was stunned since I really didn't date much being overweight. We exchanged phone numbers, dated for a bit, broke up and then I sent him a card and he showed up on my parents door step and hasn' left yet! We got back together in September of 88 and he proposed on my B-day in December of 88. We've been married since May 15, 1993.

Set up by his mom who knew me as a child... it happened after we had both returned to our home town after graduating from college.

She told him that I 'wanted' to take guitar lessons (so that I could lead singalongs with my First Graders, yea right)

She told me that I should take guitar lessons...

He called me and the guitar lessons lasted 2 weeks (I was a better teacher then a student!) but we were both hooked from that day on; nearly 20 years and 2 kids later.

MIL is still somewhat controlling but I love her with all of my heart!

Hubby and I went to the same high school but never met there! I was talking on the phone to a friend of his and hubby was at the friends house. Somehow, I ended up talking to him on the phone. He came to the Mall where I worked a day or so later. I had never laid eyes on him up until the time he showed up at the Mall.

This tall skinny guy with long hair and a really cute butt walked by and it turned out to be him.

Dh and I met on a blind date. Well, half blind cuz he came to see me at work 2 days before he asked me out, so he knew what he was getting into!

We got set-up by Jerry the embezzler in November but it took me a few months to get up the courage to say I'd go on a date with him. So he came and checked me out, must have liked what he saw and then called me 2 days later to ask me out. That was 13 1/2 years ago, we just celebrated our 10 year anniversary this month and we have two beautiful girls.

My dh and I were both already in other relationships when we met. We were actually dating a brother and sister and thats how we met, at one of their family functions! I think there was chemistry the first time we met, but we both didn't act on it. Within a few months of our first meeting we both broke up with the brother and sister and started dating. We were engaged a few months later and married within a year. That was over 25 years ago!

I was a prison guard at the county jail and DH was an inmate.

Oh, you want the truth? We met at a party where it is rumored that I blew him off. We then met during NCAA final four week at a bar and have been together ever since. (We grew up couple of blocks from eachother but had never met until I was 21, he was 24.)

When I was a senior in high school, I worked part time. It was at a restaurant and he was my boss. I was 17 and he was 22. My mom thought he was too old for me but my brother talked her into letting me go out with him. We have been married now for 34 years.

Talking

History class, 11th grade.

He asked me for a piece of paper, but then sat there with it without writing on it. So I asked "why did you ask me for it if you weren't going to use it?" He passed it back to me and told me to write on it. I passed to back to him and told him to write on it. This went back and forth until finally I said "Okay, what do you want me to write?" He said, "Your phone number". So goofy, huh? LOL!

But that was 1990. We married in 96 and have 3 kids. We are now at the point where we've been together more than half our lives.

We met 'online' when we were 18, but we were both in real life relationships at the time. I ended up getting married and he was engaged. When we were 25 we both ended up single within months of each other (i got a divorce and he had broken up with his fiance).

Since we were both single, and I had 'known' him for 7 years but never actually met him, i decided to fly to london (he is british!) and meet him. We have been together ever since then. We did a lot of flying back and forth for 3 years, then we got married and he moved over here. We have been married just over 3 years now and have a 2 year old son

I met hubby in high school. His table threw peas at me and my friend. After that, we started sitting with his table at lunch and hung out in the morning with those guys. We lost touch after I left school. I called him out of the blue after his first year of college and have been together ever since. That was in 1994.

DH was the cook at my 21st b'day dinner at friend's house.
One day short of 2 months later we were married.
Can't hardly believe it has worked out so well, he's a gem.
I would NEVER!!!! advise our kids to do it the way we did, but we have recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary.
One of our kids was adopted as an older child fromn an Asian country and is counting on us to pick her husband.
At our age, and with our life experiences, it's odd as ex-hippies, we can see the value in arranged marriages ;-)

I met dh on a street corner at SHSU. He saw me talking to a friend of mine (she was in one of his classes)... anyway he waved to us. So I start walking to class and he waited for me to get to the corner to cross the street and started up a conversation on the way to class. Needless to say.. I didn't make it to any of my classes that day.. we talked for a LONG time. 6 months later we were married.

At his college. My friend was dating the guy who lived next door to him. I knew it was love when I threw up in his Dallas Cowboys trash can and he held my hair back. 17 years later, almost 15 married and I still hate the taste of rum and coke.

In a bar while I was home from college for the summer. The friend he was with was my sister's good friend from high school, so we started talking. I already had a non-serious BF at the time. Shortly after, I got a bad case of tonsilitis, and was stuck at home. My sister kept running into him and he kept asking about me. She made hime take my #, and he called.
When my grandmother asked me how I met him, she was horrified. She told me 'meet him in a bar, leave him in a bar'. We dated for 6-7 yrs and have been married for 20.

A friend asked me to go to a party. I didn't know anyone going but didn't have anything else planned. We get to the party and she said she forgot something and had to run to the store so I went in to the house with her husband. Let's just say he's not one for words. Everyone is standing in the kitchen and he says, "Fred this is Ellen, Ellen this is Fred. She own her own house." So it's 6 married couples and Fred and I, sort of a blind date without knowing your on one! I never believed in love at first sight before but I knew from that moment on I would marry him. Our 10th anniversary will be in September.

DH owned a gas station in our town. Well, my GF and I stopped and were getting gas (full service) and he kept smiling at me. Finally, he asked for my number. We went out to dinner 2 days later and have been together for 20 years in August. (Married 17)

His Mom and my Mom were best friends in high school and they worked at a Christian Ranch that opened for Summer Camp in the Summer. The Summer before my Senior yr in HS, I went out to work there, his family now lived on the Ranch and worked full time there, him and I met, he had a girlfriend, broke up with her to go out with another girl and somehow I interfered with that and we started dating towards the end, dates on and off for three years and have been married for 8 w/ 2 kids.

I was on a date with his cousin and we ran into him at a club and his cousin, using the good manners he was brought up with, introduced us. I called my best friend the next day and told her I was in love. She asked with Jim, and I told her no...his cousin. I told her I didn't know if he had a girlfrien or not, but if she did she was probably the happiest girl on Earth. In the mean time he asked his cousin Jim if we were going together and he told him we had just been dating a short time. He asked Jim if he was goin g to ask me out again and he said he wasn't sure. He told Jim that if he hadn't asked me out by Wednesday that he was going to. Well, since that Friday night in Feb. 1974 we have been together, Married Sept. 1974. Love at first sight for both of us.
