Yesterday we went to the mall and there were about 10 people in line outside AT&T waiting for one.

I'm dying to go get mine. But the cheap bee-otch in me won't let me go get the new one until my contract on my Sidekick is up with T-Mobile at the end of Sept. I can't bear the thought of paying T-M the $30 a month as well as the additonal $20 a month for the iPhone.

There are always some little bugs with any new technology--even Apple products. So, waiting for a later build will probably be better for your anyway---they will have some of the bugs recognized and worked out by then!

DH and I are going to wait at least a year, when I'm sure both the price and the service contracts will be much cheaper. He has a crackberry and and ipod and I have a cell phone and an ipod, so I'm not sure that the iphone adds much anyway.

Ok. I just got back from a Mac store....we have one at the local mall. I was actually able to hold one in my hand and play with it. OK......here is the verdict.

I WANT IT AND I WANT IT NOW!!

It's a good thing they were out of them, or I would have one in my hot little hand at this moment...lol

The lady smugly walks to the front of the line 15 minutes before the store opens and brags to the reporter that she has thousands of dollars and is going to buy all the phones and put on Ebay. She offers the 1st guy $800 for his spot and he takes her deal as his group has 3 people waiting and only want 2 phones. Once she gets inside, the sales lady says 1 per customer. The guy who she paid is loving it and says she's probably not too happy and he proceeds to buy his phone and all the accessories with the money she bribed him with!

I love the karma!

When I was at the Apple store yesterday, they told me that on the Apple.com website you can check availability every night after 9pm for the following day. Of course this will only work for your local Apple store, not AT&T

I just read this morning that they are having activation problems.

We tend to wait about a year or so after some new technology comes out because they have time to work out the bugs. We also dont buy a car when the model is brand new.

My son and his friends have decided that they'll just wrap their cell phones in $400.

I was in Fort Worth when that story aired. My favorite part was the guy buying all the stuff with her $$, and the look on her face when they tell her she can only get one. HAHAHA. People in that area are so stinking snooty anyway.

Not us! We have it the day it comes out. We are a techy family. No worries about any problems, they have a great warranty plus you can by the one that covers you if you lose your cell phone (pay thru your plan). It was a no brainer to grab this now.

Usually people that wait to buy things for a while to work out "bugs" just plain can't afford it at the present and will try to make the ones that can feel bad. LOL!

Well maybe Darlene is not like that and is actually part of the group that takes a wait-and-see approach. Nothing wrong with that.
I don't think her intent is to make others feel bad, at least it did not come across like that in her post.

Glad you are able to afford it though. Good for you.

Let me assure you that I was not trying to make anyone feel badly about their purchases. I could give a rats *ss how others spend their money. I just know that in this household we dont rush out to buy the latest and greatest just because it happens to be new.

Oh, and adding LOL to the end of your post doesnt make it seem less of a jab at someone.
