Why are we fighting exactly? Let me know so I can pick a side!

Okay so that title was just to get your attention. I don't know as I was M.I.A. this weekend and my email and pm's were full of women asking my opinion on whatever was going on this weekend. So, here is my question...........

What does it matter if ppl don't put their kids in daycare or don't make their kids do their homework every day or feed their kids ten pounds of sugar a day? It's their kids, not yours and not mine. What exactly is the problem? You know some student should do a research paper on this site..........what an interesting paper that would make.

Arrow hmmm

Wow, I was here this weekend, but thought things were pretty quiet. I actually posted a thread and have had very little response.....Maybe this 'fight' is why it's quiet in here. BUT, I must have missed it. Now, I kinda feel left out .....so, I am assuming by your post, people are fighting about other's comments? Is that right....Heck, fill me in so I can pick a side too!

I wasn't here over the weekend either, and replied to the now deleted thread about sugar.

I replied with what we do (and don't do), but didn't read all the replies on the thread, so I am a little confused as to why it was deleted anyway? anyone?

I didn't get greeted to any pm's (thankfully) or emails asking me to pick a side or anything which is totally cool by me.

Is this turning into a highly censored YFB again where threads disappear and everyone is ugly?

I did find out I was rude this weekend because I told someone they shouldn't remove tags on merchandise. All I took was a hit on my reputation from someone who didn't even voice an opinion on the thread. Sure didn't change my opinion on the matter.

Oh well REAL life goes on.....

I don't think that thread was censored by a mod but possibly deleted by the OP. If the OP deletes their first post all the posts on that thread go *poof*

I was around on and off most of the weekend and I did not witness anything major. Even in the immigration bill topic, it seems to be pretty controlled despite polar views on the subject.

I do think there is some pot-stirring going on behind the scenes and some amount of posted sniper shots. Maturity levels are not always as they should be for adult women.

I guess us regular folks don't get called on to weigh in with our opinion on all matters by PM.

SERIOUSLY!!! What is the point of reputation???? It means nothing ... everyone's numbers pretty much reflect the cost of a tank of gasoline in their area!

I didnt know that anything was going on here but that doesnt surprise me. I am usually the last one to know everything. I dont think that I swim in the same circles as some of the more freq. posters, so I tend to miss out on stuff.

As for the reps, I give them tons of people! If I like what you said, or maybe I liked what you didnt say I will give reps. Sometimes I just give them cause I like the color of someones font (joking).

and you felt it necessary to bring this up, why?

While I agree with you in principle (their kids, not yours, yada, yada, yada...) was it really necessary to create this thread? Does threads like this not just stir the pot, so to speak? And create more dissension and animosity and hard feelings? I'm just wondering.

And you felt it was necessary to point this out? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm sorry. I forgot, I'm not part of the in crowd, so I shouldn't post my opinion.

I asked a simple question. Why was it necessary for the OP to post about how many PMs/emails she's gotten and how every one of them want her advice or opinion? When you (the generic, general you) post regarding PMs you've received or comments received via the reputation function, it seems to me that you (again, the generic, general you) are just trying to stir the pot.

Quite frankly, I was just trying to ascertain the OP's motive for posting what she did.
Excuse me for asking a question and not being part of the clique.

I would think she brought this up for one of two reasons:

1) because she can and
2) because she had a question she was seeking an answer to, much like your need to reply.

I am sure that she appreciates you taking time and effort out of your busy day to agree with her in principle, but aren't you just replying to HER thread (because I have seen your teeth in her other threads) just to stir a proverbial pot of your own.

Did you ever find a coupon for chill pills?

Nothing major went on over the weekend...

Here's the story...

This morning, there was a reply on the sugar thread that I had started. Unfortunately, instead of reporting the offensive post (which was one of those 'stirring the pot' type of post -- strictly in my opinion), I overreacted and deleted the entire thread.

I apologize.

I really did not intend for this to become upsetting to myself or to anyone else... truly and honestly. I love THE CAFE chat room. I wouldn't be here if I didn't!

By the way, it took me 20 minutes to compose this reply but it needed to be said.

Peace.

girl you gotta get off dial-up. LOL

at most that was a 20 second thread! *just kidding*

well darn it, I missed whatever it was that could have been misconstrued as offensive.

Non believer

I brought this up b/c I was trying to figure out how to answer a few ppl, whom I do call my friends here, that asked me a question or they got their feeling hurt and I need to have formed my own opinion and respond accordingly. And yes I was also wondering why it bothers ppl how others raise their children.

Well, I don't think you should have to apologize!! You took action against something you felt was offensive. I think its sad also, that ppl ask for opinion here to actually get others advice and then those ppl start snarking it up...it drives me nuts!! I love the Cafe and I love hearing others opinions on things what I hate seeing is ppl having to defend choices they make with their own family.

As for the sugar thread, I didn't get in on that one.....but, would like to go on record as saying I give my kids an IV glucose drip, just love that sugar HIGH they get......really get their chores done that way, too Just kidding, no one get their panties in a bunch, please.

I think if you don't want to contribute to a thread in a mature fashion, then just pass on that one. I don't post a whole lot on here, anymore, too hard to "hold my tongue" on some of these things. So, I gave up the fight, so to speak.

I do think this is still a fun place to come for support, and information. I just haven't been posting on the "personal info." threads.

Well GREAT you had to tell everyone! Even after I told you that I was devoted to pee free pools and even took down my Welcome to Our Pool sign and put up a Welcome to Our Ool. Just so that people could see there was no P in it.

We hope you have enjoyed your little injection of humor, we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. And, remember ladies (and gents) keep it real, but, keep it fun ;-)

OK is this post a set up. Is this my training post? You guys are doing fine. I do want to say that I have not deleted anything as of yet. Other than a thread that I started.
I think you all would be surprised as to who I am and I love you all. I don't want this board to change.

Seriously though is it a set-up? lol

Since you need to register to read any forums there, then you must get something out of it. Since you obviously don't like the postings there, then why don't you start a post there that interests you? That site is very pro free speech and as the intro says all are welcome. To just register and lurk and then use what you see there in your posts here is kinda tacky. I personally have found that while everyone may not agree, all are welcome and respected as long as you give that same courtesy.

Hey, it was subtly advertised here and there's nothing to prevent anyone from registering and reading. I prefer to check something out and see if it aligns with my interests and style and if I have anything to offer. I don't consider that tacky, but just common sense. Most of what I saw was a dissing of The Cafe and several of its members. I don't have anything of value to add to that discussion.

Now, if and when the group there gets past whatever issues that they have with the way this board functions and the desire to be a disruptive force (which I consider to be truly tacky) and if and when the group gets over whatever happened such that cici and suz left as moderators here, and the discussion is about third legs (which I happen to adore ), well maybe that would peak my curiousity....LOL

sure!!! someone someplace else mentioned that they had 3 boobs and a 3rd leg, and someone else said we can't talk about the 3rd boob while the rest of us were jealous of that person's 3rd boob.

Even milking and weight reduction on the other two if you ask me. LOL

I think you all would be surprised as to who I am and I love you all. I don't want this board to change.

this is a test of the american moderator commission...

this is only a test..........

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!

if this had been a true emergency, you would have been advised by someone with more power than you to delete this and related thread content from existence to prevent those with virgin eyes from having to read filth, except one (jtolpin who is drooling on his keyboard wishing for a shot at someone's third boob).

I think you are mistaken, the discusson on THIS board is about third legs, and btw, I adore them, too . Now, on the "other" board, we are discussing third nipples. Care to join in???

I personally have found that while everyone may not agree, all are welcome and respected as long as you give that same courtesy.

Can someone please pm or email me the site you're talking about?

Thanks a lot.

I don't have anything to add on this subject. I have received ALOT of PMs today though and I feel so special. But mostly, I just wanted to be the 50th post.
