What do you collect?

So, what do you collect?

I have a few different collections, none too big, some small. I collect those stupid Cow Parade Cows, antique doorknobs (the glass ones and porcelin ones) and last but my favorite is I collect antique bar soap, my oldest is 1910. I love antiques but only have money and room for small stuff like old spice tins and pictures and old kitchen gadgets.

We collect the elongated coins, pennies and quarters. We have them from everywhere we have been on vacation. Plus family brings them back when they go on vacation.

A while back I collected beanie babies. I still have the stupid things in a sealed plastic box, each one in it's own little baggie.

Dh and the boys collect knives and guns.

I've toned down on my "collecting" but I do collect, Hallmark Ornaments, I love lucy stuff..just got two of the Barbies, I'd like to get more and decorate a shelf in my bedroom w/ them. Also Wizard of Oz. Cute story....since I've been sick my BF tells her kids, Eileen is sick so let's send her something..well one of the twins sent me the Wizard of Oz Madame Alexander dolls from McDonald's that was the happy meal gift a few months back. I have them all standing proudly in my cabinet. Sweet of her, and they are soo cute.
I also have fallen for the Jim Shore Heartwood Creek statues..some are real cute. I only have two or three, but I do like them.

Nothing. I hate dusting, so I hate knick knacks. I don't give them and I hate to get them!

I collect My Little Pony ponies. My current favorite is my G3 Golden Delicious. My most valuable is a G1 Baby Racer. (But I like the newer ones better than the older ones)

My son and I, together, collect Berenstain Bear and Little Critter books.

I also collect V.C. Andrews books.

I used to collect these.....I had a large amount and after my first child started walking, they started biting the dust......so they got packed away and have stayed there....youngest is now 3 so I'm thinking in another couple of years I might be brave enough to get them out.....My DH's family gets me some of these every year, because they haven't figured out anything else that I like, so my collection as grown since they have been packed away....

Right now I also have a pretty bad collection of material.....Way to much! Actually I've been good and I haven't bought any new material for at least 6 months. But I would see some I liked buy it with no purpose in mind......sometimes years later I will see it in my stash and use.....Just finished a cute reversible dress for younger DD's (wear the same size) out of material I bought 4 years ago. So it is a useful collection

I'm with others about dust.
I would love to collect $$ but someone keeps taking from my collection.LOL
I have a few Dreamsicles, ladybug things and flip flops.
Oh yeah...stamping and scrapbooking items, I don't ever seem to actually use them so it must just be a collection.

Exactly how I feel about knick knacks!

Nellyhill, we need to put our dust collections together and see if we are missing anything... My dust is mainly circa 2004 (which is when we moved into this house) to present.

Some of the non-knick knack things that I collect are watercolor paintings by my mother-in-law (beautiful!), pottery made by my mom and my dad (two completely different styles -- amazing stuff!), drawings/paintings done by my children and DH... I guess you could say that I collect artwork done by family members. There is a lot of talent in this family!

I couldn't agree more.
When I first moved to Arizona an older lady told me
"Honey, you can dust once a day or shovel once a week."
I personally subscribe to the bulldoze once a month theory.
I also hesitate to mention to anyone that I think something is cute or I might end up with it as a gift. And unfortunately, to me, it'a all just clutter.

I would love to collect $$ too but I guess the only things I collect now are Angel Tree figures with a meaning behind each one, like the pregnant mother, the Dad playing with the 2 sons, etc. each has story and meaning behind it for me. I have a ton of Precious Moments dolls and figures that are stored away and will probably end up on E-Bay soon as I wasn't blessed with any daughters to pass them on to and I don't recon my sons will take much interest in them when they get older.

We used to collect Tom Clark Gnomes and we still have them but haven't bought any in years.
We collect magnets from our travels.
My DH 'collects' (saves) all of his train magazines, 3-4 subscriptions. I have no idea why!
I collect fabric and scrapbooking supplies and hope to put everything to use very soon!
I also save postcards. I have some that my grandfather sent to my grandmother when they were "courting". Not sure how old they are but I am 62 so they are fairly old.
We also collect Christmas trains and snowmen.
I have just recently discovered Jim Shore. I have 2 Chrismas ornaments, a tissue box cover and just bought a snowman ornament that I will probably use as a knick knack rather than hang on the tree.

I am a bit of a pack rat!

I have a small collection of Swarovski Elephants and one Lennox Elephant. I don't really like tchotchky (sp) things either. I have some fenton (amythest carnival glass) from my grandmother, but I don't display any of it.

I collect pretty Swanky Swig glasses. Kraft used to put them out in the 1940,50 and 60s. They had food items in them, and then you got a glass when you were done. I don't collect them all -- just the ones I like. They look nice on the table with oj. They look nice on the kitchen sink and help me remember to drink more water.

I have a few antique dishes. Once again, I like a certain kind and style -- Hazel Atlas pastels. I don't have a ton. Just enough to be useful and cute.

I have a nice collection of antique bowls in different sizes. They look nice on the tops of my cupboards and in certain areas. I only buy what I absolutely love. I use them for display.

I also started collecting antique quilts about 18 years ago before it became popular to do that. I got them for a song. Now they are worth big bucks!! I also have a lot of yardage of antique fabrics. A good amount is from the 1800s. That is worth quite a bit too.

My DH has a couple thousand Hot Wheels. He has all the ones he grew up with from the 1960's. His collection is worth quite a bit of money. We have some on display in our house. I bought antique printer boxes and they fit in there and look nice on a wall. The rest he has in special plastic boxes so they don't need dusting.
