what do you deal with as far as your house ?

stolen from another board..what do you deal with or make do as far as your house ? a door that never shuts so you have to prop it open ? a stairwell that squeeks..a leaky faucet no matter how many times you try to fix it ?

I deal with a back yard spring that only shows up once a year..after the snow melts on the mountain. The spring lasts 2 weeks..

Nothing-- I have a great hubby who fixes everything. He's a plumber now, but in the past has done electrical work and construction, so he's pretty handy. Now, if I could just find someone to fix my computer.....

We have a leaky faucet that DH would fix if I could find the part. Outside of west side of house needs painting. Pergo floor in one bathroom buckled a tad when we had a water leak... it straightened out but now there is a gap between the boards. Not bad for a 15 year old house!

As far as furniture, 2 year old couch's fabric is already wearing through. I'm going to call the company. I called the store in the first year but they told me that it was normal wear-and-tear and I believed them.

I have to deal with a tiny bathroom that you can't move in without banging into something. The sink is the worst because there is a one inch gap on each side in between walls and EVERYTHING falls in between there and ita a pita getting things out all the time. Also have these sneaky mice that like to visit my kitchen drawers and garbage can,so I have to keep all cooking utensils in plastic bags. Usually the traps will get them but this last one seems to know what a mouse trap is.Either that ,or he is one of those weird mouses that prefer soap to peanut butter. Those are my main peeves,I can deal with everything else.

I have a saggy ceiling in one corner of my sewing room.
There are 3 holes in this area.
The roof has been replaced so I no longer have to collect the water dripping in when it rains.

Cracks along with kitchen ceiling and wall, which go along the outside wall and the wall seperating my kitchen and bedroom. If one more person tells me about the cracks I'll scream

I have cracks to from where the house settled after we built...

My only problem is I live in a house of packracks, not enough room for 1/2 the stuff we have.

Mine is the kitchen floor. Dh and I thought it would be cool to have the flooring match the wall color. So we picked out this yellow porceline tile to put down. BIG MISTAKE!! It shows every kind of dirt and because it's the shiny kind of tile.. you can see footprints. I'll clean this floor and 7 minutes later you can't tell. UGH...

Other than that it's the plumbing.. our house is old and some of the plumbing is messed up. DH just hasn't gotten around to fixing it yet.

My front screen door. There is no knob on the stupid thing and DH has yet to try to fix it and I have gone to Home Depot to see if I could fix it and there are too many different size knobs that I don't know what to buy. So we just live with it and now I hardly even notice that it is not there.

Two kitchen drawers that have broken slides. So they flip up instead of slide straight in. I hate even having to open them.
We really need to fix them. They've been like that for way too long

All I can think of is in the bathroom we replaced a hinge and now the door will not stay open. I guess it needs an adjustment.
Just last week after my complaining Dh finally fixed the screen door. The thingy at the top that shuts the door, the boys are so rough on them and had broken it so many times the screw hole was stripped. He had to drill the hole and put in a bigger screw. But, that finally got done.

All I have to say is that I'm calling someone to fix whatever it is and he will fix it. It's like my car, DH owns a Napa Auto Care Center but my car has needed a new intake gasket for the last 6 months. Finally, yesterday I asked him, "what was it that you said my car needed?" then he saw me write it down. He thinks that I will take it to the car place to be fixed. I won't pay their prices but he doesn't know that. I would bet anything my intake will be fixed by Monday. LOL

It's nice to know we don't all have perfect houses. I was beginning to think everyone else did!
It's funny how the grass is always greener on the other side. I see other people's houses and am green with envy sometimes.

I have a really small kitchen, and not near enough space for all the small appliances I love. Also, the house settles and shifts all the time. Winter is worse from the snow and ice. I have lots of cracks, too.

I have a pocket door in my master bath. I want a real door! I had someone come to redo the bath and I told him that. He told me the pocket door takes up less space, why would I want to replace it? I told him I have 3 kids and I all want to do it close the door to the bathroom!

Right now, I have no glass in the top half of my screen door, and I hate it because with all the rain and storms if my front door isn't locked the wind comes through the screen door and pushes the big door open.....It can be very spooky if I'm sitting in the Living Room by myself at night. Our bulldog got really excited right before DH left and bolted to meet DH at the Door and shattered the bottom glass in the door, so for the meantime DH slid the top glass to the bottom......Thankfully the new door should be in about the same time DH gets home
