Living room furniture

Any advice on buying living room furniture? We looked at Sofa Express and while they seemed reasonable, there are many bad reviews online. Any input would be appreciated!

I don't know how close you are to West Chester, Ohio, but there is a new Ikea opening up. Check them out at Ikea.com.

Nebraska Furniture Mart is a great deal, too. There is one in Omaha and one in Kansas City, KS. Even when we lived in Dallas, having it delivered from Omaha was cheaper than a lot of the local furniture stores.

Nebraska Furniture Mart - Welcome!

Take into account the quality...not low prices and how many years of interest free payments you get. Unless you are looking for trendy that will only last a few years buy classic styles, colors and get the best frames you can find for your sofa.

IKEA is pretty awesome, inexpensive and i you have kids the lifespan of your furniture wont be as long as you wish so IKEA is sturdy but affordable.
When you do find a couch you like I suggest going for a solid color, patterns will be too hard to match and you will get tired of it. Think about if you do have kids the type of fabric and something that will hold up and wear well. I also suggest scotchgaurd, they charge extra but you can do it yourself I bet and get out of paying an extra hundred or so bucks.
Ive had leather and that was great with small kids. Now I have suede and its also good. I paid for the scotchguard stuff and its been worth it totally. But what stupid thing I did was this : I have two couches, one is dark green and one is red. Solid red and that soft suede stuff. It was one of those Im-newly-single-I-want-a-snazzy-couch purchases. Now it just looks goofy to me. LOL.

How about leather with dogs that like to jump up with you? I don't have little kids, but I do have an adorable Welsh Corgi, and my son has a monster dog (Mastiff) that thinks he's a lap dog. Will their nails poke holes in the leather?

That ine I cant answer from experience - we never had animals in the house. I know that they did guarantee our couch against any tears or holes, they would come out and do an in-home repair if something like that did happen.

We purchased some furniture from Haverty's and have been very pleased with it. I see that they have one in Columbus and one in Cincinnati, OH. Good luck! ~Lisa

We bought a couple of leather couches and and chair and ottoman, and we have 6 kids, ranging from 12 to 3, and a big old English Bulldog, that hates to get her nails cut........and I was terrified of her ruining our couches, but you know what 2 years later they still look the same, and she jumps and plays on them just like the kids do.....We do have a warranty, so if we would get a hole or tear they would come fix it. The leather has held up well....sometimes the dog or kids will get surface scratches on it, but I just put a little leather conditioner on it, and you would never know it.......I like the couches, my family loves them.....I LOVE my chair, it is so comfortable.....
