Dry Clean Only

Do you have anything in your closet that is 'dry clean only'?

In my youth, I bought a nice outfit that wasn't at all dressy (!) and so I threw it in the laundry with my other clothing.

Yes, it shrunk, it wrinkled... I read the label and it said 'dry clean only'. Ooops.

Needless to say, from that day forward... I have never purchased something that says 'dry clean only'. It's not that I'm 'cheap' (which I am!!!), it's that the dry cleaning chemicals scare me!

Thoughts?

PS... DH has a suit but I'm not counting that. This is about MY closet... YOUR closet...

I'm sure professional women have a different type of closet from SAHM

Look...!! Great price $19.99 (reg $225) for a 'Dry Clean Only' raincoat, huh? I guess the laundering would remove the waterproofedness...

I have a few things that are dry clean only but they are mostly winter things...like wool coats and some cashmere sweaters...but I use "Dry Cleaners Secret" on small items.

Yes, I have some dressier outfits from my work days that are dry clean only. Some fancy dresses, or nice coats.

I have a wool jacket that is dry clean only.I recently washed it in a cold water gentle cycle and let it air dry and it came out perfect.

I have a few "word" outfits but I don't dry clean them. I do it the home way with a home cleaning kit (forgot the name).

I don't buy stuff that is dry clean only unless I have too. I just bought a dress for for my SIL's wedding so that is...but I'm in the wedding and had no choice.

I also don't buy things that need ironed. I DO NOT iron at all. I might throw it in the dryer with a damp washcloth or hang in a steamy room but my ironing board and iron haven't touched my hands in YEARS. My DH will iron a long sleeve shirt for weddings and such and that is the only reason we even have it anymore

Oh Lordy-- I iron every single thing I own. T-shirts? Ironed. Jeans? Ironed--with creases! I know, it's a terrible time-consuming habit. LOL And no, I won't iron yours!!

Dry Clean Only equates to issuing a challenge in this house. Except for my dh's one suit and tux everything else gets washed. If it does not survive, oh well. Oh, but I do like the Dryel kit for some stuff that gets abused by washing, sweaters and such. And the Dryel spot remover is about the best I have found.

I voted yes, cause I do own it, BUT I do not dry clean it.

It works just as well to wash by hand or wash on Gentle cycle in the machine and air dry....I will not pay someone to clean my clothes.
