Never heard of that but I know someone who babysat & got paid by the state & it was the same way she had to do all this paperwork & then wait what seemed like forever to get paid she only did it a few months also just helping 1 lady out she didnt do it all the time. Its too late now but as a rule of thumb anytime you get paid from something like that you usually have to wait. Could you by chance take in another family with those kids by another family that pays it & not anyone else just a thought

I'm not sure, I wouldn't mind, especially someone who could play with my DD. The other 2 kids are boys my son's age. I had an ad out and a sign up at the store. I didn't hear from anyone else. I am only doing it for the summer too so maybe some people wanted something more full time. It is just frustrating. I had no idea it would be like this. She knew she wanted me to watch the kids I guess a couple months before, but she never gave me a definite answer. Then the day before I was to start watching them she brought me some paper to sign. Only then did I realize it said nothing about me getting any money, or when. So I started calling the place. She really should have had those things taken care of before we started. Oh well, live and learn I guess, lol. |

My old sitter before she moved and DS went to school FT was a Provider through the Counties Subsidized Daycare program and she got paid about 6-8 weeks after the children first started and then once a month after that for the prior month. But the parents also paid a portion of the daycare costs based on income it could be as little as $7 a week to almost the full fee with the County picking up very little. The $7 a week people were usually the ones in school or doing work training programs. She made more money on the susidy program than on her private pay clients truth be told. She also participated in the USDA food program where she got reimbursed for feeding the kids. All the programs are funded by the state, but the county paid her. I know our school system offers year round pay where they set aside a set amount of money each pay period during the school year so you get a check during the summer. You shoudl check into that. I know here that School Bus Drivers and Teachers Aides Qualify for Unemployment if they cant find a summer job, my neighbor is a retired teachers aide and she got unemployment during the summer if she couldnt find anything, most of the time she was lucky to get some kids to watch during the summer. I am surprised there arent more parents looking for summer daycare only, many of the providers in my neighborhood are turning them away they have no space. Also it is illegal to ask a parent who is on any of the state programs to pay any fee they are not required to and pay it back to them when you get paid it could be considered fraud, just a warning I saw a similiar case on one of the court shows and it got thrown out and the judge was going to send it to the DA for prosecution.

I agree it is illegal & most parents probably wont go for that anyways but I think OP knows now you live & learn I have heard state pays better its just a matter of going threw all the red tape & loops they make you go threw to get paid.

Yes!! That's for sure.... But I had no idea what VESID was, she said it was a program that helped her pay daycare when she asked me about watching her kids. Then I saw her again and said something about "so, did you need me to watch the kids this summer?" and she says "no, never mind, I don't know what is going on" It was not until the LAST day of school that she called me and said "are you still interested?" At this point, I still had to work. I don't work for a public school system, it's a center where universal pre-k and special education specialize. According to the girls who worked there last year (I only started in January) they USED to allow you to have it so you can be paid year round, but stopped it this year, along with paying for any holidays and such. So that wasn't an option. I mentioned to the lady that was the main director for the area's VESID about asking her to front some of the money and she just agreed! Apparently it's not an option for the woman, which it would not be able to be for me either, so I totally understand. But I had NO idea any of this would happen this way. She just said "while I'm doing my internship, Vesid will pay you and then if I get a job afterwards, I'll pay you" I think next year I will just work the summer! lol! |
