Talking Luck? Do you believe it??

I saw on a news channel today that Tomorrow (saturday) will be the biggest day for weddings in recent history, especially in the Gambling areas like vegas, atlanta, etc.

WHY? Because of the date 7-7-7
(07/07/07)

So, do you believe in luck? Not necessarily the luck of the above wedding date, but luck in general? Like, Lucky numbers, bad luck omens, Lucky days, lucky socks, rabbit's foot, etc.

Just curious!

I do not believe in luck at all....but...

I was just talking to my dh and he was saying that there is lots of prayer and fasting among Christians because apparently 7-7-7 has some Biblical significance. Weird this is the first I've heard of it.

I believe in NEVER to buy anything thats rings up 6.66 , I will grab a pack of gum or candy anything to take it above 6.66, I have refused a Phone Number 1 time because the ending was 666, LOL.

But to answer the question, Yes I think we all have Luck in someway or another.

Don't know if getitng married on 7/7/07 will bring the couple any more luck than them working to make the marriage work.
But who knows, Might be some truth in it

Sure. I think all luck is is chance meeting opportunity.

I don't think getting married on 7-7-07 will mean luck for a marriage. Wish it were that easy but it's not. I think finding that special person could be seen as luck but to sustain a relationship you need more than a date on the calendar.

I don't really pay attention to superstitions, like Fri 13th, broken mirrors or the numbers 666. I also don't think having a doll or stuffed animal next to you will mean you will win at Bingo. However I do feel that some things give comfort and if it doesn't hurt then why not.

Nope, don't believe in luck, only in good fortune, whether through serendipity or choices.

I believe that people get lucky, but i don't believe that just because of 777 that you will become lucky just because of the day. I may buy a scratch ticket and see how lucky i am, but i'm usually a very unlucky person so i doubt it lol.

I looked it up and this is what I found--

--Seven may be a lucky number in the casino, but it also has Biblical significance, said David Frankfurter, a University of New Hampshire professor of religious studies and history.
There are seven angels and seven trumpets in bowl in the Book of Revelation, which signifies heavenly perfection. The seven days of creation indicate perfection in the world. And the seven vowels of the Greek alphabet are linked to Jewish concepts of perfection.

I also saw this and thought it was cool: (Same website)Nashuatelegraph.com: Local/Regional

Here’s seven interesting facts about the number 7.

- In medieval education, students pursued the “trivium,” which was grammar, rhetoric and logic, and the “quadrivium,” which was music, arithmetic, geometry and astronomy. The seven subjects are collectively known as today’s liberal arts.

-Seven is the number of spots on a common ladybug.

- Seven is a highly significant and powerful number in great works of literature, and in one of the most popular series of all time: J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter.” Harry was born in July, the seventh month of the year; students attend Hogwarts school for seven years; and “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” splits his soul into seven parts in an effort to become immortal.

- The names of the Seven Dwarfs – “Bashful,” “Doc,” “Dopey,” “Grumpy,” “Happy,” “Sleepy” and “Sneezy” – were chosen for Walt Disney’s “Snow White” from a pool of 50 potentials.

They beat out Blabby, Burpy, Chesty, Cranky, Dirty, Flabby, Jaunty, Jumpy, Nifty, Lazy, Puffy, Stuffy, Tubby and many more.

-Most mammals have seven bones in their necks. In New Hampshire, seven types of mammals are known to hibernate each winter: woodchucks, bats, jumping mice, chipmunks, bears, raccoons and striped skunks.

- Kenneth Robert, Alexis May, Natalie Sue, Kelsey Ann, Nathan Roy, Brandon James and Joel Steven McCaughey are the world’s first surviving set of septuplets. They were born in Iowa in 1997.

-Seven is lucky in many cultures but not to the Chinese, who associate the number with death. In China, eight is considered lucky because it rhymes with words for prosperity and wealth. That’s why next year, the Beijing Olympics will open Aug. 8, 2008, at 8 p.m.

Have a great...and LUCKY...day!---Marilou

Maybe luck is God's grace or His answering a prayer?

I think it's fun to go along with superstitions, but I do not actually believe them.

I believe in karma, not luck. and I'm agnostic, so I don't believe in all the 666 or bible stuff either.
