When we purcased our PS2 several years ago, you had the option of puchasing the stand to hold it up. Don't know if there is anything different now but it sounds like one of the auctions you are looking at has theirs on a stand. HTH

The difference is actually in the width. There is the older style which could be used on it's side or lying flat The last model is a slim PS2. It is much thinner than the older one and to turn it on it's side- you really need a stand. That is probably the one you've seen laying flat as that's what most people do. So if you want a newer one, look for a slim PS2. Hope this helps!

Ditto. I'd also be leary of buying a used unit. But the good news is that the PS2 console is now quite cheap ($130). And the other good news on a somewhat related topic, is that Microsoft announced yesterday that they has extended its warranty coverage to three years to cover the red ring of death issues. UPDATE: Microsoft Sets $1 Billion Charge Due To Xbox Failures Thank goodness - ours died a couple of weeks ago and we were getting nowhere with them. They wanted $140. It ticked me off that they'd fixed so many for free but we weren't covered...not anymore! yeah!! cj/ |
