I have responded to things on Freecycle several times, but no one has ever chosen me to pick it up, so I have never gotten anything off there.

No, just some things I could use around the house.

We frequently use Freecyle to get rid of stuff we don't use anymore. Tables, chairs, dresser, medicine cabinet, bike, car parts. I don't think there's been anything I couldn't get rid of through Freecycle! (I don't post complete trash though either.)

The freecycle here pretty much sucks. Mostly smaller junky things, or ppl begging for a new car or a handout.

My dh got a couple of deals of of craiglist when we were in Tx. though

Oh, I almost forgot! I got a bunch of houseplants and perennials from a lady who was moving. That was probably my best Freecycle "find."

Ours too. It blows me away when people ask for things like a queen size bed that isn't lumpy, or bedroom set complete with matching bed, dressers, and mirror. My fav was one where someone asked for a 14' trampoline with net. Lady if I had a trampoline in good shape I wouldn't just give it to you, I would use it myself until it wasn't in good shape anymore.

I just picked up three bags of polyester batting for craft projects. Not that I need anymore stuff for craft projects, but I was going past the place anyway, so I couldn't pass it up, could I??

I saw this post the other day and it inspired me to answer one of the "wants". It was for a girl’s bike. When I called the mom to arrange a pick-up time, she told me that it was her 3 year olds birthday and since her funds were running low, the bike would be her gift. I told my daughters this and they spent 20 min. scrubbing that bike down (that's a long time for my kids to clean anything!).
Also, my youngest wanted to give her the bitty twins. I don't have the heart to part with them yet, so I let her pick out some other gifts that were in our gift stockpile from last years Target toy clearance. So thank you to the OP, now my garage has one less bike in it.

Question...what keeps someone from picking up a bunch of items from people and then turning it around and selling them? I guess the idea is to give with no stings attached, but I was just wondering.

The coolest thing I have ever been given from Freecycle is a Vitamix blender. It is the older model, but it works great!! I also was given a market umbrella, the kind with the wooden frame and canvas fabric - really nice. I always try to give back to Freecycle too, not just answer the Offers. I have met some very nice people too. It's a great community

Our Freecycle board is full of people wanting expensive items, and people giving sob stories. I delete 90% of the posts before I even read them, if they are "Wanted" posts.

I have given away some neat stuff though to people. I alway hope they don't turn around and sell the stuff, and will actually use it.

My sister has gotten some really good things from Freecycle. She was fixing up a kitchen in her basement so she could do her canning and freezing from the garden. She has gotten a free refrigerator, two ovens, cabinets and kitchen sink. They've also gotten old lawnmowers that her husband repairs and sells them.

I've gotten a lot of Little Tikes stuff for my granddaughter that lives with me. We got a cozy coupe, a boat thingy they sit in and play, a pool, a dollhouse, and a play kitchen. I also got my older kids 4 dwarf hamster with cages.

I've given a set of bunkbeds, a basketball goal, a bunch of baby stuff, some of my plus size clothes, and a bunch of sealed baby cereal and baby foods when my granddaughter outgrew them.

That's a great freecycle find. I wish I could find one of those. I have wanted one for years, but never wanted to pay for it.

We have an AWESOME Freecycle group here. I have recieved a Kodak Digital camera 4.0 MP with digital docking station and printer, baby formula for my son, the couch that is in my living room right now, a dove tailed burl oak antique dresser in awesome condition, a set of 10 tickets to the Shriners Circus for free admission, a georgous rocking horse that has a stuffed body and cherry rockers on it from Pottery Barn, a my size Barbie dollhouse for my neighbors little girl, and many other things.

I have given away 2 bicycles with the child carrier that you pull behind the bike and a seat that fits on the back of the other one, many clothes..some new, a nice set of dishes, a big box of shoes in excellent condition but I couldn't wear after my 2nd child as my feet grew a 1/2 size, outside childrens play equipment, 12 boxes of misc. items from my gargae to a Church for a garage sale to help a child with Cancer. The boxes had a nice silk Sax 5th ave 2 piece set in it, new candles, Target clearance items etc. I remember one lady came and my DH kept filling up her truck with a 27 inch TV we were not really using at the time, a stereo system as we just got a new one, VCR, DVD player and movies for the VCR and DVD player(her daughter just moved here after getting out of an abusive relationship and needed most everything and my DH was determined to give it to her, LOL, and much much more has been purged from our house on Freecycle.

I have made friends with some of the freecyclers in my area and we now e-mail each other 1st to see if my child needs the clothing size hers has just outgrown and vise versa.

Our Freecyle group is excellent and I just love it. We do not have the problems that I hear so many of the other Freecyclers have...yet.

Happy Freecycling all.

I have a huge box of stuff to list on Freecycle tonight as I am purging my "catchall room" so if you are in the Brandon, FL area keep a look out as I will be posting a lot of stuff soon.

- Jenn

Have that same thing here. There is a gal that posts close to every week, asking for camping stuff, esp. a camper, cars, computers etc.. cuz her kids are so deprived and they really need to have a nice summer. I guess eventually she may get lucky.
We have alot of folks that post 1/2 a box of ceral, 1/2 a bag of rice, or my favorite " a couple of scoops of baby formula" I'm a little leary of anything open, esp. formula. With the cost of gas, now it would be pretty spendy. Oh, well to each their own.

I dis-enrolled from our FreeCycle group. Too much BS and Drama and scamming going on. I'd rather take it to GoodWill and let them deal with the hassle.
