UGH! What a good start to the week!

Well, let's see. DD (7) got an e-mail from her little friend and wanted to reply to her this AM. I told her find. 10 minutes later I come in the office to see how she's doing, she says it's typing in all uppercase letters and doesn't want it to. I look at the keyboard, the caps lock is OFF! I turn the caps lock ON and now it's typing in all lowercase. Then I look at the inbox and see that as I scroll down the list of messages in the inbox, it's highlighting EVERY SINGLE message! I told her to please go out so I could attempt to correct the problem. It took me 15 minutes - I still have NO idea what she did! - but finally got everything back to how it was. [backstory: we are extra paranoid w/ our kids and PC's because several years ago, our oldest DS crashed our PC TWICE - a year or two apart - because he was "trying to do something."]

OK, PC crisis over. I resume doing a mountain of laundry. I go to move the second load from the washer to the dryer - they are still sopping wet! But no water in the tub. I put it on another spin cycle, and close the lid. I can hear the motor running, but when I quickly opened the lid to check, the tub is NOT SPINNING at all! So I put in a call to the appliance repair guy, who can come out sometime tomorrow.

What I really love most of all is that *none* of this stuff EVER EVER happens when DH is home! WHY is that???!?!?!?!? I hate it when stuff breaks or something goes wrong, but it aggravates me to the nth degree that when something DOES happen, it's ALWAYS when it's just me (and the kids) here!

And to top it off, the kids are making me nuts. They've got plenty that they could do or play with, but won't. They'd much rather torment each othe, and me in the process! I already took them three places last week, and told them we'd go bowling and to Chuck E Cheese later this week, but today and tomorrow I have stuff to do around here.

HELP!

Sorry you're having a bad day, but all I can say is that I remember those days. The only comfort I can offer you is that you're not alone. Ages ago, I came home from shopping to find out the boys had put a password on the computer, and couldn't remember what is was. Knowing silly boys and how they think, I actually *cracked the code* in about 1/2 hour....but I was furious with them! Now, we laugh about it.

As far as things breaking down, I think appliances get together during the night and work out a plan to torment us. The washer says to the PC "OK, now, I won't spin the clothes right after you break down....Then, I'll tell the remote to hide under the cushion, and he can tell the ice cube maker to jam up."

I hope things improve for you today!

I ask myself this same question every time dh goes out of town!! Let's see, the first time the water filter broke, the 2nd time the refrigerator died merely seconds before he had to board his plane, the 3rd time (this Spring actually!) something went wrong with the water pump.....and each time I'm left home with the kids. After this last episode with the water pump, I forbade him from ever going out of town again!

Hope the rest of the week goes good for you!
