How early in the morning is TOO early to call?

This morning at 5:50 a.m. - my phone rings. It is a friend of my mil. She wants to know if I got a shower invitation? I said to what shower? She says Christa's - somebody marked names off the list I gave them. I said it is 10 til 6 in the morning! And then I hung up on her! I mean I know she is a friend of my mil but geez it is 10 til 6 IN THE MORNING! I figured it was dh calling me needing something. He sometimes calls early before I get in the shower or leave for work. I'm not saying anything to dh or mil but I'm pretty p/o'd about it. I was only ever polite to her because she was a friend of dh's family - I always thought she was weird - now I know she is just a psycho strange one. She'll be lucky if I even acknowledge her now! I just think if you call before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. it had better be pretty important if not an emergency.

Call me before 9AM and someone better have died. 5AM is NUTS! I would not have hung up, I would not have answered. I don't even think I would hear the phone ring at 5AM.

DH is on call 24/7. We learned back when the kids were little to turn the phone off in our room. Back then we had an answering machine with tapes, we'd hear the tape clicking. Sometimes it just wasn't important enough to call back. Finally had to tell the guys some things can wait until DH gets to work. The only phone we have ringing is in the living room and it's the Motorola outdoorsy phone which has animal sounds for the ringtones. Might be an elk, owl, mountain lion sound and it doesn't carry so we usually don't hear it. While we were gone last week, some psycho woman calls at 3 in the morning trying to pull a prank on her boyfriend. She realized she had the wrong number and immediately called back apologizing. Glad I wasn't home for that one.

Don't call before or after 9 am and pm.

Depends on who it is. My best friend and I will usually chat from about 6-7am during the school year. Sometimes during the summer we do this too. We are usually up by 6:30 anyway. As for the evening, it doesn't matter to me but the girls aren't to have calls after 9pm. Last night I happen to be asleep early and when the phone rang at 10:17 I answered half asleep and got hung up on. Caller ID is a terrific thing!LOL It was a friend of youngest DD. Oh Well.

6am is fine with me. But I would not call anyone that early unless they were expecting me to call then.. expecially for something like this that could of waited. I would really be po'd with her and I would say something to her about it.

I go by the 10 rule. Not before 10 am and not after 10pm.

I'm not a nice person in the mornings. I HATE mornings. I HATE HATE HATE early morning calls - they're usually bad news.

I am a 9-9 girl. Dh works 3rd, so anything real early or late puts me into a panic.

I love my caller id and my answer machine.
Doesn't matter what time of day or night it is, if I'm in the mood to answer I will and if I'm not in the mood I won't. And if it's before 10 am it's guareenteed to only get the answer machine.
If I am in the mind to answer but don't recognize you on caller id....leave a message.

I guess maybe you could say I'm hard nosed.

Well originally when I received the early morning phone call, I had not received the invitation - I'm assuming because someone crossed me off her list. Well, I did receive an invitation yesterday - sent by the friend of my mil who was the early morning caller! Did this woman not realize I was p/o when I hung on Monday morning at 10 til 6 in the morning? Apparently not. And no, I'm not going to the shower and I'm not buying a gift. And if my dh or mil ask why I'm not going, I will tell them the saga. I haven't said anything to dh or mil about this but believe me, if they ask, I sure as heck will!

Why would you boycott the shower (and thereby the bride or mom-to-be - not sure what kind of shower it is) because someone called you early in the morning?

1:06 am like the caller the other night! Unfortunately, we have the same name as another person in town who is not listed in the phone book. We get alot of their calls, and apparently, their idea of appropriate times to call are alot different than ours.

They are friends of my dh's family and I have chosen not to attend after the aggravating early morning phone call. I am not close with these people at all - I was polite before because they are friends of dh's family. I have chosen not to go to the bridal shower after this mother of the bride was so inconsiderate in calling me at 5:50 a.m. I'm sorry you feel I am boycotting the shower.

I don't want anyone to call me any earlier than 9 a.m...I'm a night owl, so if they call late at night, I really don't mind...but I'd have to say 10 p.m. because DH wouldn't like anyone calling after that. If someone called me at 5 a.m. I would think that someone had died. I think that the OP had every right to be PO'd...I know that I sure would be! I can't stand it when telemarketers call me at 8:15 a.m...That really annoys me. ~Lisa

I like the 10 rules! My caller ID doesn't work upstairs..even if it did I would have to get my glasses out & on to check it, by then, you've already woken me up!
