Spinoff... Baby Names -- NOT!

I personally knew a girl named Lacey Braugh.
In the newborns list in the paper one time, there was a baby that had been named named Bebbee Dahl.

My Mom has all sorts of stories to tell about names that she saw when she did birth certificates for the hospital.

The other thread with baby names got me to wondering... Have you ever heard any names that make you stop and say, "What were the parents thinking???"

Cory and Cam, cute names huh? Not when you consider that the dad worked or the chevy dealership and the kids full names were Corvette and Camaro! My youngest daughter had a group of sisters that were her friends when she was younger. Their names were Mercedes, Cadillac, Lexus, Corvette (again??) and Beulah. I always wondered what was up with that mom.... car fetish? And poor little Beulah, why didn't she get a luxury car name?

I knew someone that named their kid

April May June

This is a little off topic but I didn't realize that until recently that some cultures give the child's father's name for the middle name whether it be boy or girl both children would carry their father's name. So if my father's name was Heathcliff my name would be Melanie Heathcliff Jones.

Glad I was born in the USA. Heathcliff isn't my fathers name but I thought I would make it a little more interesting

There ws a girl several years behind me in school name Crystal Shanda Leer.
The funniest one I've heard though was a lady my mom knew that named her child Pajama. The lady was a few slices short of a loaf and she saw it in a book and thought it was a name. She actually pronounced it "pudge-a-my-a" because that's how she thought it was really pronounced. I've always felt sorry for that kid.

my cousin's mother wanted a boy. When my cousin was born, she decided to name her after my uncle anyway. Stantilla. I am not joking. My uncle's name is Stanley.

OMG! I took care of a 15/16 yr old back in 1985 who named her baby girl Vagina (she pronounced it VUH-geenuh). I dang near choked when she said it. Turns out she had seen the word on her bedside chart (those were the days when we still did that) and thought it was one of the nurses' names and thought it was pretty... Wonder if she was the one on Oprah??

Then there was the one who had her babies 10 months apart... Dustin Case (girl) and Justin Time (boy) - and she literally *just* made it to the hospital before Justin was born...

Oh, the stories I could tell...

I work at an elementary school and we have three sisters named.....Princess...Princess..and Princess. I guess if mom wanted to call them she didn't want to worry about getting their names mixed up. They do have different middle names so at home they are called Princess (middle name)...not just Princess. But at school they all go by Princess only.

Also, my son has a friend at this school named Ho and his last name is Lee....(Holy) and yes...his father is a preacher.

We have a street here in Ft. Wayne named after a long past mayor, Harry Baals. I had also heard of the twin names for jello (orange and yellow) and I have also heard of the Male and Female (molly and femolly) for twins.

My name is Cher so I get a lot of flack, but nothing like Harry Baals or "Vugeena"

the receptionist called her that and I thought it was some inside joke...no. I'm in the waiting room w/this lady, she keeps calling people on her cell & every time says loudly this is Velveeta, it's me Velveeta calling back etc

ack!

at my school there was a boy named Pappy

also read an article about a lady named Cupcake, who grew up in poverty and overcame adversity and is now a lawyer, she wrote a book about her life.. said her mom was dazed and was hungry, after giving birth..mom asked the nurse for a cupcake, and the nurse misunderstood and put it in the records as the baby's name and there it stayed. Cupcake's last name is something normal like green or brown.
