Need ideas for a housewarming gift!

My parents moved to Wicsconsin last month...my dad got a job promotion...I have no idea what to give them...they don't NEED anything, but we're going to see them this week-end, and I don't want to show up empty handed...any ideas would be wonderful!!!

TIA

I would put some pictures in a nice frame. Especially if you have a picture of their old home.

What a nice thing for you to do! My parents have moved a couple times and I never thought of getting them a housewarming gift....duh. I like the picture idea....or a twist on it, some kind of creative collage or scrapbook of memories/highlights of where they moved from.

The pictures sound like a good idea to me. I would probably take some kind of a plant, if it were me. Maybe a perenial, or a small tree or bush. Even some bulbs to plant in the fall.

ETA Maybe some new bathtowels, or towel sets for the kitchen.

I would suggest something special to plant in their new yard (if they have one??). I always give dogwood trees plus when they look at it they will think of you!

We just moved in to a new home and one of my friends bought us a subscription to the Sunday Chicago Tribune. It turned out to be a great gift.

I like to bring something to plant outdoors like a tree or bush. If I am unsure as to what they might like, I get a gift card to a local nursery.

Can I ask what town they have moved to? I'm from Wisconsin and know the state somewhat well.

Another thought just came to me. Did they used to live where you live now? It would be fun to bring them something from their home area.
In the town I live now, there is a big Italian deli and I could think of lots of things to buy there. Special hometown cheese, beer, chocolate shop, etc.
Would that work?

How about printing off your computer- "we have moved" cards. Take a picture of their new house - reprint- add your backing and help your mom address the cards while you are visiting?
