Vans Warped Tour 2007 (Familiar with?)

15 year old dd wants to attend this tour with a 15 year old friend. 2 hours away, father is willing to drop off and pick up. Father says he's okay with it, up to Me (mom). Mom & Dad divorced.

I've been to a few concerts back in the day and I don't think it's safe to drop two 15 year olds off. Am I'm overreacting? Does anyone know anything about this concert? Do I have a right to be concerned.

Please give me your feedback, both good or bad.

Thanks in advance,
Renee

Personally, I wouldn't leave them especially if it's 2 hours away. Here is a link to the tour

I would. But, it depends on how much to trust your 15 year old. The Warped Tour is put together for that age (14- early college). It is a lot like the early days of Lalapalooza. If he is going with a friend, and an adult is dropping him off and picking him up....make sure he has a cell phone and let him go...remember what it was like to be 15?

I would too. send him with a cell phone and have him call you at a certain time.

My daughter went to this last year. She actually joined a volunteer team in order to get in free. She was there by herself, is VERY independent, and worked 2 hours on and 2 hours off, and had a good time. There is a TON of adults and security, it is very well organized. Sure there might have been trouble with some kids, but that could happen anywhere.

She will probably go again this year as well. I live 2 hours away too, and while she was there, I was fortunate enough that a friend of mine has a shore house about 1/2 hour away so I just spent the day there, as DD has a medical condition and felt better with me being closer.

But it's totally up to you...DS had been going to this for a few years as well.

(sigh) <I> want to go.

OK. I want to be YOUNG enough to go.

I had to check to see who's performing. Sad when you don't know all the bands names anymore.. (but if you're in the scene, how could you NOT know Bad Religion)...

Anyhow, I cant THINK about the girls (or the 2 boys) going to a concert.

My oldest wanted to see Gwen Stefani, from watching her on Idol, songs she knows from shows, etc..

I was like 'No.', envisioning No Doubt's fans, and where a 9 yo girl would fit in

Sending a child to a concert - that's growing old.

If I go to a show, I'll fit in with my Chuck Taylors (although the plaid ones are long gone...) And the DM's dont fit anymore (and they hurt my feet)

My daughter (age 14) went to this a few weeks back. She is smart and mature and her friends are as well, so i felt ok with her going. She went with 5 other kids all 14 and 15. She had a great time.

Her friends parents took them, but did not stay, and then picked them up after(we are only about 30 min. from the venue). She and all her friends have cell phones and i sent her texts every once in a while. Her group did break apart at one time, the boys didnt want to see the "girly bands", but she called to ask if it was okay, before she split as she knew I wanted them to stay all together. She really enjoyed seeing some of her favorite bands and discovering new ones. She took lots of pictures and said she will never forget it.

The only thing i DONT like is there are some bands that have mosh pits, she is smart and knows not to go near. She said kids were going in there and punching and kicking like crazy and she saw a few come out with bloody noses and such. Another thing she saw that she said was crazy was that people were "crowd surfing", where you jump in the mosh pit and "surf atop the crowd".The bands she liked didn't have that stuff, but she did see this stuff. (they are there for hours). There are bands playing on multiple stages so it not like they have to see those bands adn be part of it. I asked "well were people being dragged in", and she laughed and said no, its not like that, the people who do that like it .

All in all I would let her go again next year.
