Unhappy Quick I need help now.

It's been a long day. I've had the 2 youngest grandkids all day and 5 brand new kittens to top it off. I have been trying to get a few things I needed to do done. Needless to say things haven't quite went the way I planned. I threw a load of clothes in the washer with a new red shirt in them. Yep you got it now everything is pink. I am so tired and I just now also discovered my freezer (FULL of food) is off and everything is thawed. WHAT else can go wrong in one day. I am completely brain dead and know there is something I can do but can't remember. Any ideals. Please I need them all now. Thanks in advance.
Betty

If you rewash the clothes without the red shirt in it, with detergent, and borax, it may help.
What colors do you have in the load? If you can go to your local store, you can sometimes find Carbona brand dye magnets.

As for the food, if you have raw meat, if you cook it in recipes, you can re-freeze the foods you cook. If you have prepared foods, you can't refreeze them, but they should be good, as long as they are cold, for about 18-24 hours.

It's rough when you have a day like that.
I hope I helped you a little bit!

Teresa

Put all of the freezer stuff in the refrigerator and tomorrow, cook up all of the meat and refreeze (after cooking) and decide what to do with the rest of it. Some of it can be refrozen but I'd be hesitant with the meats.

As far as the 2 kids... bedtime? or send them home?

And then relax ... relax ... relax! You deserve it!

For the clothes, I would suggest washing them in the hottest possible water, minus the red item, of course. If possible use some bleach or Clorox2.

goood Luck.

Not able to add more helpful hints other than what other posters have offered; but, I do want to offer you a hug and hope that things are better for you tomorrow and the day after, and the day after, etc. etc.

Thanks everyone. I did rewash them twice and without the red shirt. Most of the pink has disappearred. I have some errands to run tomorrow and I think I will look for that dye magnet. It can't hurt to try on those last pieces.
It sure hurt throwing away as much as I did but I am trying to salvage as much as I can. I have been cooking since I found it but am give out and need to be up fairly early so I think I will call it a night and finish tomorrow. I have been trying to find something positive about all this and so far the only thing good I see so far is it should make for some quick, easy meals.

Thanks again. I appreciate everyone trying to help.

Betty -

How about throwing an impromptu "Freezer Thaw" party? Invite over family and friends for a nice feast?

Yes, our food bank takes anything. I'm not talking about frozen peas and things like that... I'm talking about meat, etc. Yes, our food bank takes anything (even non-food!).
