aww best wishes to you!! You sound exactly like me..my son measured 43 weeks at 38 weeks, and they let me go until 39 weeks, and then induced me. I too had an u/s just to see where things were at, the dr said she thought he would be around 8.5lbs, he turned out to be 10lbs, and 23 inches long...and my dr afterwords said she knew he would be that big! We didn't have any problems with the v-birth though, tough but do-able!

My oldest daughter was also born with shoulder dystocia. She weighed almost 9lbs. When I got pregnant with my second daughter we held off with a decision on the birth until about a month before my due date. It looked like she was also going to be big, so we ended up doing a C-section. I was actually glad, I did not want to have to deal with Shoulder Dystocia again. That was by far the scariest event in my life. One of my friends daughter had permanent nerve damage after her birth because of SD. Good Luck and I hope that everything goes well! Keep us updated!!! |

My son was born 11 years ago after 28 hours of labor via c-section. He was 9 lbs 9 oz but he was 3 weeks early! If they hadn't done the c-section I don't think he would have ever come out. So with my daughter, my NEW doctor, scheduled the c-section right away because she said there was no way I could deliver any baby over 8 lbs and since my husband is 6'4 and 290 lbs, the odds of me having a small baby were slim and none. Well can I just say I love my doctor because my daughter was 11 pounds 2 oz! I'd probably still be in labor with that first doctor! Good luck with your baby!

Well, our little guy came into the world at 11:45 am via c and was 9lbs 15oz and was 21 and 1/4 inches long. His name is Nathan Jackson and he has a full head of dark brown hair that is slowly turning blonde (very cute to see the blonde highlights emerge every day). He doesn't have eyebrows yet and his eyes were so puffy for two days that he only opened his eyes when it was dark in the room to reveal these beautiful navy blue eyes that you look forward to seeing every time he peeps at you! His eyelashes are now noticeable because the puffiness has gone down and he is beautiful. He is having trouble nursing so we have to use a shield but he should wean himself off that hopefully within the month. I only had one bad experience from a formula n@zi that didn't want to help me encourage him to nurse but the very breast feeding friendly pediatrician that saw him during his hospital stay set her straight and ironically, she was never my nurse again in the five days I was in the hospital. I "told on her" to the lactation consultant and she went through the roof and whole heartedly apologized to me and assured me the nurses from now on would help me and encourage nursing. He wakes up about every three hours to nurse and be changed but otherwise he doesn't wake up for anything else! He loves to sleep and snuggle for now. He is down to 8 lbs 12 ounces (I have never had a baby THAT small!!) but otherwise very healthy and a happy baby. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers! I sure needed them. I didn't break down once...except when they numbed me for the spinal...those HURT!! Other than that, I was good to go and in very good spirits. The nurse who checked me in was happy to have me for a "change". She said I made her whole morning.

That is great! I am glad that everything went well for you. Well, except for that one gal! She must be one of those -"I wouldn't ever want to nurse a baby" type gals! He sounds adorable. I love babies. Shirley Waiting to see pictures of him |
