Mine should be delivered tomorrow from Amazon. My local UPS had it in the wee hours of the morning, but didn't deliver it today. The only thing is, I am pretty sure that UPS doesn't deliver to my rural local on Saturdays. Oh well, maybe I will get it for free since Amazon promised delivery for saturday.

My BIL works for UPS and said they have extra drivers to deliever the books. You should get yours tomorrow (or today depending on your time zone).

I have an Amazon pre-order in as well... I'll have to have DH go out and check the mail as soon as he wakes up. I wonder if they did a midnight delivery? I'm just curious if they went to that extreme. My mail lady is always so creative and on top of things.

Got it. Went to Safeway at 7:00 am on Sat. Got it for $20. For the first time in my life, I read the ending. But I won't tell.

That's what my DS said that he would be doing... DS and I are not even readers of the series (maybe someday?) so I might do that too before we hand the book over to DH. Hee hee.

DH is so excited -- I love it.

Aah, it is UPS. I just checked on Amazon and the tracking number is there!

I know that when the last one came out, it came in the mailbox via USPS (post office) so I was just assuming! Yeesh.

I went and tracked it and it was IN TOWN at 10:00 AM yesterday morning. LOL.

I got "mine" in today's mail from overstock.com. I sent a box set of 1-6 to some of my Marine buddies in Iraq last month so that they could bone up....this one will go out on Monday. (I'm not an HP reader)

My 14 YO DD is holed up in her room reading it right now! We went to the mall to B.Dalton last night with the other 350 or so Harry Potter peeps and got out book at about 12:20AM. DD came in, fixed her a Pepsi and headed to her room. This morning I went in to check on her about 11:30AM and she was reading then! She said that she read until about 4:00AM, slept for awhile and got back up at about 9:30AM and started back reading. She should be through with the book in about an hour!

Sadly though....on the way home, the child read the last couple of chapters first!!! She couldn't stand it. She wanted to know who died and just couldn't wait!! I told her that was cheating!!!!!!!!

When I went to Target at 8:00 for the dollar spot sale there were people waiting for the book. It was only $17.99 there.

Silly me, I have two in hand. I thought I had pre ordered from Amazon, so when I checked my account and did not see the order, I pre-ordered it. Then yesterday I got an email from overstock.com(Ahhh that's where I pre-ordered it from ! LOL) and so today two books came in the mail. Luckily my 16 yr old son is working this year and said he would buy the one copy from me so he has his own. He wants to have his own set of the series. Maybe Santa will help him out with the others!

Heads up for those of you that pre-ordered through Amazon... be sure to keep your eyes open for a $5 off $20 gift certificate in your email. The email is supposed to come within a week from today and the gift cert is good until August 31.

Got it and Done!

We were some of the crazies at out local B&N last night. We were the last people allowed in the door and that was about 8:15pm. We were #453 to get the book and there were about another 1000 behind us, people were set up in the parking lot on lawn chairs when we left at 1:00. Got up at about 8:00 and started reading and finished it this afternoon.

I was very happy, it was great and very action-packed. I had read one of the spoilers that someone posted on-line and was thrilled to read that they were completely wrong.

They were actually interviewing a psychologist or something this morning on the news on how to help your children deal with the disappointment of having the series end. Unreal.....

DD finished the book around lunch time yesterday. We got it at midnight, she read most of the night, napped for about 4 hours or so and started reading again as soon as she woke up!

Hope everyone enjoys the book as much as she did!

I finished reading the book last night. I think it is the best of the series. I was sadden(even cried ) at some of the victims, but it made the story more realistic.

I was up to 3 am reading, slept for a few hours, got up and finished the book. Very good reading. I cried, laughed, and won't tell anything else. Happy reading everyone!

I cried also. i did not really understand the Kings Cross chapter, there was a lot going on around me when I was reading it, and then i gave the book to my sister to read. I could not believe FW died. I really liked how she closed the series with "19 years later" but I still wonder what happened to some people. My favorite part what Mrs. Weasleys reply to Bellatrix during the battle. LOVED THE BOOK. I think I will get another copy and reread it. I like to read them again because the first time around you just want to get through the story and miss a l,ot of the fine details.

I love the book for the most part!! Loved the end, loved the story line about "SS"! However, am I the only one who thought there was a lot of filler in it? There are things I feel she should of gone into much more detail, and others where it should of been a sentence, but she wrote 5 pages on it!

I am ashamed to say that I have only read the first 2 books.
I fully intend to start on them again when life slows down for me.
When I read, I ignore the world around me until I finish the book and I just don't have time to do that right now. Maybe I will get the books on tape and listen to them on the way to California next year. It's a good 3 day trip so that should get me thru at least one book. Another for the trip home, maybe.

I have to post this. We got DS (he's 12) the book Saturday AM, he started reading it at 9:30 am. He took a 25 minute break to eat lunch, and then came downstairs at 5:30 pm - he had FINISHED the book!!! That kid is something else! (He gets his love of reading from DH and me, as we both love to read.)

I just hope I can interest at least one of our 7 yr old twins in reading the series when they get a little older!

Suzanne

maybe it's just me, but if I hadn't read it yet, or hadn't finished it, I wouldn't open up a thread asking about it b/c I'd just assume it was being talked about.

It's common courtesy to include a Spoiler warning, especially from a moderator!!

ETA: Big Thanks to Addison for modifying the title to let readers know...

well, like I said above, I guess I'm the only one who wouldn't open a Harry Potter thread until I'd read the whole book. *I* would assume there would be talk about the book in a thread about the book. Call me crazy.

Jaded, no it is not just you. I won't open a Big Brother thread if I don't want to be spoiled. I intentionally opened this thread to see who died. LOL People are only human so I don't always assume that just because it doesn't say spoiler in the title that it won't be spoiled accidently. Human nature wants to talk about something that we enjoy!

Me too. I opened the thread to find out all the juice on the book. I would like someone to SPOIL the whole book because i won't be reading it. So spoil away or tell me a good true spoiler site

Like mackeeg, I don't read the book so I enjoy reading the spoilers... I can hold them over my DH's head. He's the one reading the book here!

You guys won't believe what I did. Went to the local pool, had about 10 other people there including kids. My niece ask me if I had finished the book and I said yeah, she asked who dies and I blurted out the ending....had about 5 kids look over at me....I felt horrible. I knew she would never read it but I didn't think before opening my big mouth. I apolozied to everyone in the pool and there was only one that had read the book and finished it too so it turned out to be okay but still. I hate when someone spoils it for me and there I was blurting it out. Lesson learned.

toontown, that is incorrect. That was what everyone thought was a spoiler before the book came out. It's untrue.

It's actually kind of hard to spoil b/c it's just such an action packed book, and so complicated.
