Drew Carey to be the new host of The Price is Right

He confirmed it during this afternoon's taping of The Late Show with David Letterman. He is also going to be hosting a prime time game show next month called The Power of 10.

It will be interesting to see someone new hosting after all those years of Barker.

I like him but doubt I'll watch it, he's not that type of game show host to me

I think he's a great replacement (even though Bob Barker can never be replaced IMO). I did think that Rosie would have been okay too only if she didn't offer her opinion on the show. ( She is a natural and would have done fine). I will probably tune in to see how he is doing.

I'm not a fan of Drew Carey, and will not be watching it. The only reason I ever watched "Whose Line is it Anyways? was for Wayne Brady. I think Rosie would of been a better choice, since I don't think she would of offered her views politically on TPIR, not that kind of show! Were "The View" on the other hand thats what she got paid for. Oh well, its a shame, I'll miss wathcing TPIR!

I'm thrilled about Drew Carey on The Price is Right! He's a genuinely funny and real person, and I can't wait to see this. I LOVED Bob Barker, and have been dreading a replacement announcement, but now I can breathe - I really like Drew!

Rosie would have been a pretty bad host of this show, in my opinion. I agree that she's funny, but her eyes never smile - even when her mouth does. It's a very insincere look, and it gives me the creeps.

i am very DISAPPOINTED!!!
A few years ago I got a book written by him for my Son in Law for a Christmas gift.
I read a little of it and I was shocked at his foul mouth!
I was never too crazy about him before that but now it makes me sick just to look at him!
I would have picked him before Rosie if I had to but there must be a decent person out there who would make a good host.

I really like Drew Carey and think he will do a great job. I would have also loved Rosie because I think she would have been so excited and happy for the contestants. Her only problem would have been that she would want to give the prize away even when they lost. LOL

I also like Drew Carey so luckily I'll get to keep watching. If it would've been Rosie I was done watching it.

I still wonder why they were looking at comedians?

Bob Barker wasn't one, so why replace him with one?

The show should be done as close to the way it has always been done.
I'm thinking too much humor might ruin it.
Bob Barker was funny, but in his own way.
I think they should ahve hired someone almost unknown so there would be no expectations.
Oh, the world would be a much better place if they'd just let me run the whole thing!!!!!

I like Drew Carey but am a little suprised by him being picked. I'll have to tune in and see how he does. I will reserve judgement until then!

I totally agree. Some rather narrow minded opinions here. There is no replacing Bob Barker. No one will ever be able to fill his shoes. That's not the point here. The point is to choose a replacement MC for The Price is Right. Give the man a chance. Just because Drew wrote a book a few years ago that was full of foul language doesn't mean he can't turn over a new leaf. I'm not saying he did, I'm saying it's possible.
I too shall reserve judgement until I see the show a few times. The show will never be the same without Bob Barker. However, that doesn't mean it won't still be a good show, just different.

I will watch him on the show and see how he does.
I am trying to be more forgiving in my life but some things are hard to get out of my mind.
I HATE that kind of language and I do hope he has changed but somehow I kinda doubt it.
Too many people talk that way these days. I know I'm older than most of you on here, but I am not an old fuddy duddy. I just believe that speaking in a nice, clean, moral way is best for everyone.
I don't feel that I am being narrow minded, just stating the facts.
I am who I am, but like I said I am trying to be more forgiving and not as judgemental as I once was.
But I still think an unknown would have been better.

I've never read his book (actually didn't even know there was one!) but the good thing is he can't talk that way on network TV!

I think we should hold our opinions until we see him in action. I liked him on the Drew Carey Show. Thought he was really funny. I think he will relate to the contestants really well. I'm so glad Rosie didn't get it!

I'm with you - it was really strange for someone to suggest that it was "narrow-minded" of you to already have a negative opinion based on a real experience you had.

In fact, I think it is "narrow-minded" of the person to suggest that your contribution to the thread was narrow-minded!!

We're all entitled to our opinions - and I like hearing the opinions of those who actually have something from which to base their opinions.

I like Drew. But you are not an old fuddy duddy for being turned off by his foul language in a book that Drew once wrote. You deserve your opinions!
