B-Day gift for 1 yo!!!

My little Faithy is turning 1 on August 9th and I don't have a clue what to get her. It's been so long since I've had little ones I just don't know!!! I want it to be special and I guess that's where I'm getting hung up? Help from some of you younger moms would be GREATLY appreciated!

Melissa

Too funny. I was just sitting here thinking that she doesn't need anymore toys at this point!

Baby Einstein DVD's have been a hit with the little girl that I used to watch. She really liked: Baby Einstein - Baby MacDonald - A Day on the Farm

Sandra Boynton board books: But Not the Hippopotamus, and Moo, Baaa, La La La La and so on...

My advice is always to buy inexpensive gifts for the young ones!
They are happy with about any toy at this age.
They won't know the difference in a $5.00 or a $5000.00 toy.
Then SAVE the extra money for the gifts they will ASK for later.
They want bigger and better stuff as they get older.

I hear that grannyshirl !!!

I guess I'm just feeling like I don't have any idea how long she will be with me and I want it to be special. But, I know that what I do day to day is what matters.....what to do , what to do!!

My son had fun tearing up a $1 bill on his first birthday...

Off topic... He sort of enjoyed the cake but was bothered by how messy it was. I went to my friend's little girl's first birthday party and she put a cheap cake on a plastic tablecloth in the center of the lawn and the little girl got the frosting on her hand and started to cry. Broke my heart.

Enjoy little Faith! She sounds like a sweetie.

I'd get a cake, sing happy birthday and take lots of pictures. For a gift, I'd buy a hardbound fairy tale book. My parents gave that to my oldest when he was young and he still has it.

I do daycare in my home and for Christmas for the little ones I took photos of all the kids and put them into an album. They love to sit and look at all the pictures of their daycare friends. You could do the same but put pictures of yourself and other people in your family who she is familiar with. Even pictures of her crib, her bathtub, her toys, etc. Doesn't cost much but she'll be able to take it with her when or if she ever leaves you.

Is this a foster child??? If so the photo album would be perfect. How about a scrapbook too, to keep all the memories for her that she might lose otherwise?

I think a memory book capturing all your love and hopes and dreams for baby Faith would be a wonderful thing to do for this child given the situation.

I think some kinda of walker toy is nice for one year olds...a quality, well-balanced shopping cart maybe??

The idea for a photo album made me cry and I think it's perfect!!! Her mother was adopted and has no pics of herself as a child, or of her family. I would love for her to have something like this. THANK YOU!! I will have to enlist the help of my daughter who is the scrapbooker of the family!

off topic, Faith is sick today, she had a fever when she got up and when I took it at lunch, it was 102. :0(

There are thick cardboard books that you can insert photographs in the pages.
They have a place for the child and the familys pictures. Walmart used to have them for around $5.
If you could find one for her to look at and read it would be a nice "keeper" too!
